Anthony Rizzo is becoming quite the story already. The 22-year-old Rizzo had his first career four-hit game Friday night as the Cubs held on to beat the New York Mets 8-7 at Citi Field. Included was Rizzo's fourth home run, a three-run shot off Mets lefty Johan Santana in the fifth inning. Even though the stat is not official, Rizzo had his fourth game-winning RBI. Like...
Starlin Castro was out of Chicago's lineup for the first time this season because manager Dale Sveum wants to watch the game with the Cubs' prized young shortstop.
Sveum says he wanted to talk about game situations with the 22-year-old Castro, who has committed more than his share of mental mistakes.
In San Francisco a month ago, he trotted off the field with the ball in...
DETROIT -- The Tigers aren't counting on rookie Drew Smyly to carry the team, but if he can do what he did Friday, they'd be ecstatic.
Smyly (4-3) allowed just two runs on six hits while walking none and striking out 10 in the Tigers' 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
Smyly became the first Tigers rookie with double-digit strikeouts and no walks since Eric Erickson...
Reader email from Ken in Coon Rapids, Minnesota: “You guys see the dumb Tigers broad flopping out her implants during 5th inn. of last night’s game? Kid Rock’s sister.” Yep, went straight to our MLB TV account and there she was. Kid Rock’s sister flopping out her boobs, but it sure looks like a bikini under that half-shirt to us.
Looks like a Detroit entry to have a breast...
40-42, 3rd place, 4.5 games behind CWS.
JV turned in just the performance that the Tigers needed last night, tossing a complete game 4 hitter in the 5-1 win. Incredibly, he only needed 78 pitches to get through 7 innings, and only because of a few long ABs in the 8th did his pc escalate to 115. JV was efficient early on and pitched to contact, before logging more Ks later in the...

Detroit Tigers, 42-42, 4 1/2 games behind Chicago.
Today the Tigers have a chance to win 4 in a row, which they last did when their starting second baseman was named Brandon Inge (April 15-18), and would tie their longest winning streak of the season. Indicators are positive: the April 4-game winning streak was also against the Royals.
The Tigers will send Doug “Five-Inning”...
Prince Fielder hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to break a tie and Delmon Young followed with a solo shot to lift the Detroit Tigers to a 7-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday and a split of the four-game series.

The Cubs are tied or the worst record in the Majors, and they bring their continued struggles to Citi Field to close out the first half of the year against the Mets.
Keeping a grip on second place in the National League East, the Mets are fresh off one of their most momentous wins of the year against Philadelphia last night and will look to enter the 2012 All-Star break in style...
(AP) -- The Detroit Tigers are slowly starting to win against left-handed starters - but not thanks to Ryan Raburn.
The Tigers are expected to stick with the struggling Raburn in Friday night's opener of a three-game home set with the Kansas City Royals.
In a quirk of scheduling, Detroit (41-42) is in the midst of what will be five straight contests in which the opposing starter...
The Arizona Diamondbacks have made it clear in recent days that they will entertain trade offers for their star right fielder Justin Upton.
