Veteran Braves pitcher Tim Hudson has earned nearly 100 million in his 15-season career, but a significant portion of those earnings were recently sent back to Auburn -- the place he called home in college.
Hudson and his wife, Kim, who still make their home near the Auburn campus, donated 1 million to the Tigers' baseball program to upgrade the team's clubhouse. The generous donation is part of an overall upgrade of Samford Stadium-Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park, which athletic director Jay Jacobs said had not been upgraded in "nearly 10 years."
Naturally, the improvements to the facility are expected to help recruiting.
Hudson last played for the Tigers in 1997 after coming in from Chattahoochie Valley Community College and still ranks highly on many of the all-time school records. During his senior year, he was named SEC Player of the Year and a consensus All-American after posting a 15-2 record and hitting 18 home runs and 95 RBI.
