Ryan Vogelsong injury: Vogey leaves game after five strong innings with hand injury

In what had been his best start of the 2013 season, Ryan Vogelsong was injured during an at-bat in Monday’s game against the Nationals. On a poorly timed swing, a pitch from Craig Stammen appeared to deflect off of Vogey’s right hand. Bochy and trainer Dave Groeschner came out to take a look at the hand before immediately escorting the right-hander into the dugout. Vogelsong...

Manager Bruce Bochy and a member of the training staff came out to check on him, and Vogelsong quickly left the game...

POSTGAME RECAP: Vogelsong breaks hand amid best outing; offense comes alive

GiantsPod breaks Giants pitchers with bad ERAs. When Danny and I went to Fresno for a little Central Valley action in 2011, we saw Barry Zito take a bad spill off the mound and injure his foot. Now Ryan Vogelsong is broken. Worst of all, Vogey was having by far his best game of the season. One more inning of decent work would have given the right-hander just his second quality start...

Ryan Vogelsong leaves start with fractured right hand

There was speculation that the Giants might soon be removing the mightily struggling Ryan Vogelsong from the rotation. They’ll have to do that anyway now, and it’ll be after what was easily his best outing of the season. The Giants are reporting that Vogelsong suffered a fractured bone in his right pitching hand after being hit by a pitch during an at-bat in the fifth inning...

MLB rumors: Giants not ready to make changes to starting rotation

Despite the team's pitching struggles early on this season, the San Francisco Giants are going to stand pat with who they have.  Barry Zito, after a remarkable run during the postseason last year, has struggled mightily.  Tim Lincecum continues to struggle.  The team is playing alright despite the problems, but they need to correct the pitching issues.  However, they won...

Giants Take Game, Lose Vogelsong in 8-0 Win Over Nationals

After a disastrous road trip, it was a bittersweet day at AT&T Park as the San Francisco Giants took home a win over the Washington Nationals. Ryan Vogelsong pitched his best over the last few weeks before being taken out with a fractured right hand. Manager Bruce Bochy said Vogelsong has two breaks in his right hand, at the pinky and knuckle. He’ll have surgery tomorrow and...

Giants 8, Nationals 0

Ryan Vogelsong broke his throwing hand on a swing after pitching himself toward his first win in seven starts, and the San Francisco Giants returned from a terrible road trip to beat the Washington Nationals 8-0 on Monday night. The right-hander fouled a ball off his right hand in the bottom of the fifth and grimaced in pain while grabbing the hand. He was quickly examined near...

The San Francisco Giants (24-20) return to AT&T Park after errors and off pitching plagued a six game road trip to Toronto and Colorado. The finale of the road trip ended today against the Colorado Rockies (24-20) and yielded another loss for pitcher Barry Zito, who is now 3-3 on the season. Barry Zito Struggles Again in Loss to Rockies

Barry Zito turned in his second straight poor performance for the San Francisco Giants, this time a 5-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Zito allowed five runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walked two. After a 1-5 road trip  Giants manager Bruce Bochy  may be ready to make some changes. “We’re going to make some adjustments,” he said. “It’s a great starting rotation...

Nats Take On Giants In Matchup Of Last Year’s Powerhouses

The San Francisco Giants (24-20) may be the reigning World Series champions, but as the Washington Nationals (23-21) head to AT&T Park for the final stop of their West Coast excursion, they bring with them a strong record of success against the Giants. Last year, the Nationals dominated in matchups between the two teams, winning five of six games and outscoring them...

Rockies 10, Giants 2

Tyler Chatwood threw into the sixth inning and Wilin Rosario hit a two-run homer off Tim Lincecum in the Colorado Rockies' 10-2 rout of the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night. Promoted from Triple-A Colorado Springs before the game for his second stint with the Rockies this season, Chatwood (2-0) had a shaky second inning but settled in after that and handcuffed the Giants...
