Todd Wellemeyer’s tenure for the St. Louis Cardinals was short, but memorable. His performance on the field wasn’t extremely noteworthy, but his charisma earned him considerable man-crush points with the collective fan base and local media.
Yesterday, Wellemeyer signed a one-year deal to pitch for the Chicago Cubs, where he began his career. His outgoing personality is also extremely revered in Chicago and while the news isn’t exactly regarded as a major free agent acquisition, it has Cubs fans grinning from ear-to-ear.
Now, we’ve never signed a contract to play professional baseball, but when that day eventually comes, we’re confident our celebratory actions will mimic those of Todd Wellemeyer’s last night.
