Many people thought of Tom Gorzelanny as a "throw-in" in the recent trade between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is trying to prove otherwise. Most of the focus was on John Grabow when he and Gorzelanny were traded to Chicago. Grabow went straight to the major league team, while Gorzelanny was sent to the AAA club. It wasn't long until Gorzelanny was added to the major league squad. Tom Gorzelanny was the starting pitcher for the Cubs on Tuesday night. He wasn't anything short of brilliant. He went seven-and-a-third innings, giving up only three hits and one run. Sean Marshall was actually pitching when Gorzelanny's earned run crossed the plate. Marshall came in with runners on first and second.Gorzelanny made the start in place of the injured Ted Lilly.
