Found October 30, 2006 on Meet the Mets:
Lyle Spencer, writing for MLB.com, didn't think so. His choice for next year's MLB World Series champs: the New York Mets. One thing Spencer points out is the interesting fact that the crown has gone to a different team each year of this new century (after the Yankees racked up a 3-year streak to wrap up the previous one: starting in 2001 it has been the Arizona Diamondbacks, Anaheim Angels, Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and now the St. Louis Cardinals. So let's say they've had their turn and set them aside (like it's that easy!)Some of Spencer's more serious reasons: 200 home runs, 146 stolen bases, a superb bullpen. To those I would add a very devoted fanbase. And I don't think it's too early at all!
