Reading Between The Seams:
Torii Hunter is widely regarded as one of the “good guys” of professional baseball. Great teammate and great human being. The latter was on display today, as he played catch with a youngster named Hunter. Yes, he was named after Torii by his huge Minnesota Twins fans parents, and they drove their son to Detroit as part of the Make-a-Wish foundation. DETROIT What we are witnessing this week is the best hitter in baseball putting on a show unlike anything hes ever displayed even in winning the Triple Crown last season.
Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera did it again Thursday night, launching a majestic, two-run homer in the first inning. That made it four consecutive games with a homer, matching his personal best streak...

It's no surprise teams have tried to avoid pitching to Miguel Cabrera, especially given the reigning AL MVP and Triple Crown winner's current hot streak.
Prince Fielder, though, is making them pay.
Each star hopes to extend their hitting streak as the Detroit Tigers look to hand the visiting Minnesota Twins a 10th consecutive defeat Friday night.
Cabrera homered in his...
Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera almost lost a battle with a screaming foul ball off the bat of teammate Matt Tuiasosopo. Cabrera laughed it off playfully but there is no doubt Manager Jim Leyland would have had some choice words for “Big Matt” had he injured the franchise player.

Your browser does not support iframes.Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera suffered a scary brush Tuesday night. The moment came in the top of the fifth inning when teammate Matt Tuiasosopo ripped a sharp line drive in the direction of Cabrera, who was sitting attentively at the end of the visiting dugout. It was a good thing the reigning Triple Crown winner was paying attention...
The Minnesota Twins placed third baseman Trevor Plouffe on the seven-day disabled list with a concussion Wednesday after he was struck in the head by Dan Uggla's shin while breaking up an attempted double play.
Plouffe was injured in the 10th inning of Tuesday night's 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
He slammed into Uggla's leg sliding into second base and remained down...
On May 21st, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout became the youngest American League player to hit for the cycle since 1930 at 21 years old.
The second year phenom won AL rookie of the year in 2012 and he also finished second for the league’s MVP award, behind only Miguel Cabrera.
But will Trout be able to dethrone the reigning MVP for the title in 2013?
As of May 22nd...
DETROIT -- Friday night is turning into Anibal Night at Comerica Park.
Exactly four weeks after striking out a franchise-record 17 Atlanta Braves, Anibal Sanchez was at it again Friday night. This time, while he fell two outs short of his second career no-hitter, he still struck out 12 Minnesota Twins in a one-hit complete game.
"He's a really good pitcher, and he was...
Two days ago, designated hitter Anderson Hidalgo was on the suspended list for the Crushers. Thursday night, he drove in what was ultimately the game winning run with a bases-loaded single with nobody out in the top of the fourth inning as the Crushers (3-3) went on to beat the Miners (3-3) by a score of 3-1.
Hidalgo was hitting in the sixth spot in the lineup for the third consecutive...
If you had to take one guess as to which Twins player broke up Anibal Sanchez's no-hitter in the ninth inning Friday, chances are you'd pick the team's only three-time batting champion.
Indeed, Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer recorded the Twins' first and only hit of the game with one out in the top of the ninth inning Friday at Comerica Park. Mauer entered the game...

The reigning AL MVP and Triple Crown winner, Miguel Cabrera has had an awesome start to the 2013 season. He has a .391 average, 14 homeruns and 55 RBI. If he keeps this up, he could be on his way to another Triple Crown. I came across this amazing GIF of Cabrera hitting 6 homeruns at the same time. It is similar to the Yu Darvish one I wrote about...
Prince Fielder bounced a tiebreaking single off Jared Burton's glove in the eighth inning, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night.
Omar Infante started the inning with a single and was bunted to second by Torii Hunter. Ron Gardenhire then ordered Miguel Cabrera intentionally walked, but Fielder foiled the plan...
The Twins have now lost 9 games in a row. They are terrible. There is only one solution. Burn it down.
Everyone on the staff, fire them. All of them. Terry Ryan Ron Gardenhire, Joe Vavra, the guy who burns hot dogs by Section 129 on a daily damn basis, TC Bear. Everyone.
Trade everyone. Josh Willingham. Joe Mauer. Oswaldo Arcia. Trade them. Trade them all.
Then set fire to Target...
