R,A, Dickey pit ches a complete game shut out against the Rays After losing the first two games of a three game series against Tampa Bay, the Toronto Blue Jays shut out the Rays in the rubber match 3-0 and R.A. Dickey pitched all nine innings.  Dickey was practically flawless and his knuckle ball left Ray’s batters shaking their heads. Dickey surrendered two hits, no earned runs, a walk, and struck out five batters.  This was, by far, Dickey’s best game of the year.  The Ray’s batters went down in order in the bottom of ninth inning.   Man!  When the final out was recorded, I immediately applauded.  I was amazed at what I witness on T.V.  R.A. Dickey pitching  a complete game shut out.  Awesome! There was some bad news for Blue Jay fans.  With Jose Reyes back from the disabled list, Toronto had to make room for their roster.   That meant sending fan favorite, Munenori Kawasaki to Triple A. Buffalo the night before. Greg Zaun of Sportsnet television in Canada felt that sending Kawasaki down to the Minors was not a smart move by the Blue Jay’s organization and I think he is right.  Kawasaki has character, something this team needs.  He is also a hard working player.   Kawasaki is a player to take the field first and to exit the field last during pre-game warm ups.  Talk about dedication.  More importantly, the fans love him. There was a little light in the tunnel regarding Kawasaki’s situation.  Just before he was sent to Buffalo, Blue Jay’s manager,  John Gibbons made a promise to the fans in a press conference by saying “He’ll (Kawasaki) be back.” Well, guess what.  Kawasaki came back to the Blue Jays much sooner. Melky Cabrera was placed on the 15 day disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee.  The injury to Cabrera opened up a spot in the Blue Jay’s roster.  Kawasaki was recalled from Buffalo to fill the spot. Toronto continues their four game series against the Boston Red Sox this afternoon.  The Blue Jays hope to get  a victory after dropping the first two games.
