Not even a week into the season  and the Toronto Blue Jays  have a losing record.  I can not believe, with all talent in their lineup that the Jays have a  2-4 record. This past weekend, the Jays played a three game series against the Boston Red Sox. They lost the first game 6-4.  ”We made too many mistakes tonight,”  said Jay’s manager, John Gibbons at the post game press conference. There was one positive note relating to the game.  Jose Reyes went four for five at the plate and collected two RBIs. Starting pitcher, Josh Johnson gave up nine hits, three earned runs, two walks and struck out six batters in six innings pitched. In the second game, the Jay’s bats were hot as they shut-out the Red Sox 5-0.  ”It was a good all-around ballgame,” said Gibbons J.P. Arencibia went two for four at the plate and tallied two RBIs.  Reyes had another good day at the plate going two for three. J.A. Happ had a great day on the mound.  He gave up only one hit, no earned runs, three walks, and struck out six batters in 5.1 innings pitched. R.A. Dickey The third game made me shake my head in disgust.  Here we had last’s year’s National League Cy Young winner, R.A. Dickey on the mound and the Jays got hammered 13-0.  I am lost for words folks.  In only 4.2 innings pitched, Dickey gave up ten hits, seven earned runs, and struck out five batters.  I went on twitter and already people were wondering about Dickey’s pitching.  There was one person who tweeted got me thinking.  Maybe Dickey is having trouble adjusting to the American League style of play.  Who knows.    Whatever the case, Dickey has 0-2 record to start the season.  Surprisingly, Gibbons told the media after the game that he was not concerned about Dickey’s pitching.  We’ll see how he feels if Dickey’s next start is as bad as this one.Meanwhile, the Jays have  a day off today, but they will face the Tigers, the first of a  three game series tomorrow night in Detroit.
