Found April 05, 2012 on Mets Fever:
Mets center-fielder, Andres Torres, was injured this afternoon after misjudging a ball that ultimately rolled to the wall. While chasing the ball down he came up lame, apparently reinjuring the same calf muscle that plagued him all spring.

Torres immediately walked in from the infield and was Met on the infield dirty by the Mets' training staff. No official word yet from the team, but it would appear that they will have to call someone up from the minors to replace Torres, who needed two plus weeks to heal during the spring. Your likely call-ups would be either Kirk Nieuwenhuis or Matt Den Dekker.

Torres Injury Rattles My Faith

Every time I start buying into the Sandy Alderson Mets being different than the Omar Minaya Mets something happens to bring things back into focus. This time it’s Andres Torres. Torres tweaked his already hurting left calf during yesterday’s opening day win over the Braves and will be placed on the disabled list. Kirk Nieuwenhuis [...]

Five things to look for on Opening Day

Happy Opening Day folks! No matter your disposition on the state of the Mets,  Opening Day is always a clean slate for all and everyone starts the season 0-0. How can you not get excited to hear the sound of the crack of the bat and the ball hitting the leather, which is now about to be heard in Queens for the summer? Today’s Opening Day vs. the Atlanta Braves is not ripe with...

Torres and Francisco Ready To Go On Thursday

According to ESPN New York, Terry Collins was very pleased with Frank Francisco’s bullpen session today. Francisco expierenced no pain in his knee, which has sidelined him for a portion of the spring. He will be leaving camp with the team, ready to go for the opener. Andres Torres started and batted lead off in today’s Mets 7-6 win over the Yankees. Andres said he felt good...

Kirk Nieuwenhuis Called Up For Andres Torres

The “joke” circulating between reporters, team officials and fans would be that the Mets would have to bubble wrap Andres Torres between games. Barely half a game in his Mets career, he went down with a calf strain, thus prompting and immediate trip to the DL. For all the injury problems the Mets have had in the past 3 years, this may have been one of the quickest decisions made...

Mets Will Have All Hands On Deck!!!

Its unfortunatel to think about it like this, but it has been a loooong spring! After enduring Valley Fever, knee problems, twisted ankles, spiked heels and more abdominal issues than you can probably count, the Mets appear set to open the regular season with each and every one of their primary players. That isn't to say this didn't come down to the wire. In fact, Tuesday...

Post-Game: Game 1 - Mets Outduel Braves On Opening Day

This afternoon's opening day game brought with it Johan Santana's first start in more than eighteen months. Thoughts and News From Opening Day

Another great day for the Mets who have now won 33 of the last 43 Opening day games. Here are some thoughts from Game 1 of 162.  It was also the first franchise history that the team won a game 1-0 to start the season. Johan’s start was more than any of us could have hoped for. Aside from the 5th inning when he began to run out of gas he actually dominated. Putting down 12 straight...

I'll Say Goodbye, And Hello

We've arrived, kids. A long spring training and a longer off-season is finally over. Baseball is here, and not a moment too soon. I can't tell you how long the euphoria of an undefeated season in first place will last (my guess is two days), but baseball is here. And with baseball is at least a chance to win. We've lost too much and too many this offseason. We lost Dana...
