Our final trade deadline divisional primer....two buyers, two sellers. Pretty simple, huh? Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 45-36, second place, five games out in division, wild card leader The Angels have just PUT IT ON after a terrible first month, going 37-21 since April ended and rocketing to the top of the wild card standings. Anaheim could use a couple of upgrades on offense, where third basemen Alberto Callaspo and Maicier Izturis just haven't gotten it done with the stick. Erick Aybar is heating up at short, and Peter Bourjos's sublime defense keeps him in the lineup every day. The Angels could also use a catcher, because Chris Iannetta has been hurt, and backup Bobby Wilson hits like...well, a backup. The Angels have a good bullpen, and their only below average starter is the gopher-prone Ervin Santana. This is a damn good team with only a few holes, but their rough start put them behind the eight-ball immediately. Oakland Athletics 40-42, third plac...

Angels pitcher Dan Haren prided himself on his resiliency and his ability to make all his starts, but it finally caught up with him Thursday when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim: Contenders or Pretenders?

Coming into 2012, the Angels’ big offseason had many people, like myself, expecting them to challenge the two-time American League Champion Texas Rangers in the AL West. To be honest, I actually picked the Angels to overtake them in the division. Yet after a very slow start, the uphill battle became very steep for the Angels. They have gotten close to the Rangers at times, but...

Indians face another tough pitcher in Haren

After Jered Weaver demonstrated once again his dominance at Progressive Field, now it's Dan Haren's turn to do the same. The struggling Haren brings in the third-lowest ERA among pitchers with at least five starts at the Cleveland stadium as the Los Angeles Angels continue a three-game set against the Indians on Tuesday night. Los Angeles (45-35) opened this series Monday...

The Angels trade deadline shopping list

Trade deadline looming... must talk trade... must throw crap against wall... must see what sticks... Yep, it's that time again, trade speculation time!  But rather than make up ideas like I did earlier this week, let's take an actual real logical look at the Angels trade needs and who their actual targets that totally didn't come from my imagination might be.  Yeah...

Angels 3 Indians 0: Weaver Blanks Tribe

This just in – Angels starter Jered Weaver is good at baseball. This also just in – the Indians offense struggles from time to time. Sometimes you sit back and watch a game and have to just chalk it up to being dominated by a great pitcher. That was certainly the case last night as Weaver completely befuddled the Tribe for six innings. But in the seventh, with the Indians trailing...
