A report on FoxSports.com's trade deadline buzz yesterday quoted a source that said the club would move Doug Davis and/or Jon Garland for only what they deem fair. But that interest had gone up slightly. A scout with the Diamondbacks was in Texas on Tuesday.
So what about Doug Davis or Jon Garland?
Let's start with the 33-year-old lefty Davis. He won his last start, going six scoreless innings against Pittsburgh. The former Ranger is 5-10 with a 3.76 ERA this season. He's a lefty, which would be nice to have in the rotation (and would allow the team to move Derek Holland back to the bullpen and still have a lefty in place). He has 100 strikeouts and 62 walks in 124 1/3 innings this season with a 1.49 WHIP. July has been his toughest month, with a 5.61 ERA in 5 starts. Davis' contract ends after this season. He's making $8.25 million. So it would make some sense there.
Garland, a righty, is 5-10 with a 4.42 ERA this season in 21 starts (128 1/3 innings). The 29...
