Just covering our bases here, but Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi put a note regarding Washburn into their "trade deadline buzz":
The Yankees, Phillies, Brewers and Rangers all have scouts in Seattle to watch Mariners left-hander Jarrod Washburn face the Blue Jays Tuesday night.
The Twins also are represented, but for a different reason. Their interest is in Jays shortstop Marco Scutaro.
The Dodgers are also looking for a starting pitcher but don't have serious interest in Washburn, one major league source said Tuesday.
As Jamey Newberg points out, Texas is scheduled to face Washburn Sunday, so this is more than likely just advanced scouting on their part. But Washburn is an expiring contract, and the Mariners, now seven games out of the playoffs in the loss column, have talked about selling this week. Washburn might be their best asset.
