Re-signed CF-R Adam Jones to a six-year contract extension worth $85 million. [5/25]
Back when Jones used to be in the Mariners organization, he would draw comparisons to Mike Cameron. Jones had power potential in his bat, good speed thanks to a long stride, and a cannon arm left over from his days as a shortstop. (Not to mention that teams wanted to draft Jones as a pitcher.) You could dream on those tools and see a player who would one day smash 20 home runs, swipe 20 bases, and win a Gold Glove award on a seasonal basis. Jones isn’t a 20/20 guy but he isn’t Cameron, either. That isn’t meant to disrespect Cameron, a great player, but rather to introduce this factoid: according to Baseball-Reference, Cameron made about $76 million during his playing days. Jones will make $85 million before he turns 33.
Jones is in the midst of a banner year offensively. Hitting for average and above-average power is nothing new to Jones, but the amount of power production has changed. Whereas...

The Baltimore Orioles and the agent for center fielder Adam Jones are discussing an extension for the one-time All-Star, whose contract expires after this season.
Jones confirmed Friday that his representative, Nez Balelo, was in Baltimore. Jones also said he's taken a physical, a prerequisite to a contract extension.
But he could not confirm an agreement.
The Orioles, building on their early season momentum, are close to signing center fielder Adam Jones to a club-record contract extension, major-league sources say.
The deal, according to one source, will be "well north" of the two largest deals in team history - Miguel Tejada's six-year, $72 million free-agent deal and Nick Markakis' six-year, $66.1 million extension...
The Orioles, building on their early-season momentum have signed center fielder Adam Jones to a club-record contract extension.
Jones signed a six-year, $85.5 million contract with the Orioles on Sunday, ensuring that the 26-year-old center fielder will stay with the team through 2018.
The deal is well north of the two largest deals in team history -- Miguel Tejada's six-year...
Orioles fans have been clamoring for it all season, and the team seems to have finally locked up Adam Jones with a contract extension. I was a little worried that they would feel they "had" to keep Jones, and end up giving him a Matt Kemp type deal (8 years, $160 M), but was looking at 6 years, $80-90 M myself. Actual contract; 6 years, $85 M. Nicely done, Orioles...
Adam Jones is about to cash in on his rise. The Orioles outfielder is reportedly on the verge of signing the most lucrative contract in team history. It's reportedly slated to be for six years and between $80 to $90 million, eclipsing Miguel Tejada's six-year, $72 million deal from 2003 for the club record. In the process, it will also surpass Nick Markakis' record extension...
It looks like the one big wish that we've been hoping for as fans will soon come true. If the report from ox Sports' Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi is correct, Oriole center-fielder Adam Jones will be in Charm City for a long time -- a very rich young man, to boot. The Orioles, building on their early season momentum, are close to signing center fielder Adam Jones to...
Baltimore Centerfielder & standout Adam Jones has signed a 6 year extension with the Orioles. The deal is the largest in franchise history & makes Jones the 2nd highest paid CF in baseball (Matt Kemp).
The Baltimore Orioles on Saturday ended up losing to the Kansas City Royals in a close contest, 4-3, at Camden Yards.
It was a hard fought game by the Birds; however, in the final third of the contest, the bullpen could not hold a 3-2 lead, mistakes, plus an inability to get runners on base and advance them in the final frame cost the Orioles a chance to win their 30th game of the...
The Baltimore Orioles reportedly are near a team-record deal with center fielder Adam Jones. The Orioles will sign Jones to a deal much higher than those given to Miguel Tejada and Nick Markakis, a source close to the team told Fox Sports. Tejada, who has signed resigned with the team, signed a six-year, $72 million contract in 2004 and Markakis signed a six-year, $66.1 million...
The 2012 Orioles continue to be one of the more interesting teams in baseball right now. Despite the series loss to Boston this week the Orioles are opening up a weekend series against the Kansas City Royals with even more intrigue.
First, Brian Roberts. The man that I was sure was completely done at the beginning of the year has made two rehab starts in Bowie so far. How he has...
The Baltimore Orioles and Adam Jones are on the verge of agreeing to a contract extension according to sources close to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.
Jones is hitting .311/.357/.601 with 14 HR's, 29 RBI's and a 161 OPS+ in 183 AB's for the Orioles this season. He ranks third in the Majors in WAR behind Josh Hamilton and David Wright with 2.8. His UZR...
The extension that Brian wrote about this morning between the Baltmore Orioles and Adam Jones is apparently just about done. CBS's Jon Heyman is reporting that the deal will be for six years and a whopping $85.5 million.
My initial thought about the deal is "wow, that's a lot of money". An average of $14.25 million a year for Adam Jones? That's crazy. While...
This afternoon, the Orioles lost to the Boston Red Sox, 6-5. They could not get the series win, and are 28-17 on the season.Jake Arrieta pitched well; however, he once again suffered with inconsistency on the afternoon. Despite only being at .500 – with a record at 22-22 – the Red Sox are still formidable and have a tough lineup with a mixture of veterans and youngsters. The...
