Oakland A's relief pitcher Travis Blackley made a nice easy catch of a foul line drive from the A's bullpen during Thursday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

It happened in the top of the eighth inning as Blue Jays batter Edwin Encarnacion hit the line drive foul towards the left field stands. While fans and other members of the A's bullpen were ducking for cover, Blackley simply stood up and made the easy grab. Afterwards, Blackley tossed the ball to a fan in the stands.

Josh Reddick pies Coco Crisp in the face while wearing Spiderman costume (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. The Oakland A’s have made a habit of coming away with walk-off wins this season. On Friday night, Jamie Weeks hit a lead-off triple and Coco Crisp followed with a sacrifice fly to give the A’s a 5-4 victory in the 15th inning. It was their second win in 15 innings this week, as they also needed six extra frames to beat the Rays on Monday...

Why was Josh Reddick dressed as Spider-Man after Friday night's A's game? (Video)

After the Oakland A's got a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night, A's outfielder Josh Reddick got dressed up as Spider-Man before giving teammate Coco Crisp two whip cream pies in the face as a reward for hitting a sacrifice fly that scored the winning run. Crisp was also showered with orange Gatorade and cold water before getting pied. Reddick...

Athletics 4, Blue Jays 1

Josh Reddick hit a two-run homer to back another strong outing by Bartolo Colon, and the Oakland Athletics beat the slumping Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 on Thursday night. Brandon Inge and Seth Smith also drove in runs for the A's, who improved to 14-5 since the All-Star break. Oakland, held to no more than one run in three of its previous four games, moved past the Los Angeles Angels...

A's call up strikeout artist Dan Straily

In their push for a playoff berth, the A's have called up starting pitcher Dan Straily, and will start him tomorrow night against the Blue Jays. Straily will be replacing Travis Blackley in the Oakland rotation, sending Blackley to the pen. The 23-year old Straily, not on any top prospect radar coming into the year, has absolutely burst onto the scene in 2012 after being...

A's RHP Griffin leaves early with tight shoulder

Athletics rookie right-hander A.J. Griffin left Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with tightness in his pitching shoulder. Griffin left with two outs in the second inning. Although nothing appeared out of the ordinary, the A's trainer bolted from the dugout after Yan Gomes flied out. Griffin was immediately pulled from the game and replaced by Jordan Norberto...

Oakland Athletics trade Kurt Suzuki to Washington Nationals

It looks like waiver trades are occurring earlier and earlier than before. On the same afternoon that saw Cliff Lee claimed and Joe Blanton traded to the Dodgers, the Nationals acquired a veteran catcher to support Jesus Flores. Suzuki was deemed expendable by the Athletics following the promotion of Derek Norris and trade for George Kotteras. Moving Suzuki allows the...

A's to call up prized prospect to start Friday

The Oakland Athletics plan to call up right-hander Dan Straily, who has more strikeouts than any other pitcher in professional baseball, to start Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Straily has 175 strikeouts in 138 1-3 innings while splitting time between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Sacramento this season. The 23-year-old also has a 2.60 ERA in 22 minor league games. A fourth...

A's call up minors' Ks leader

Right-hander Dan Straily, who leads the minor leagues with 175 strikeouts, will be called up by the A's and make his major-league debut Friday night against the Blue Jays. Straily, 23, is 8-6 with a 2.60 ERA and just 97 hits allowed in 138 1/3 innings over 22 starts between Class AA and Class AAA this season. He has a 1.36 ERA since being promoted to Class AAA Sacramento, and...

Nationals acquire Kurt Suzuki from the Athletics

The Washington Nationals have acquired veteran catcher Kurt Suzuki from the Oakland Athletics for catcher David Freitas the team announced. Before the trade deadline, the Nationals were involved in talks with the Rangers regarding Yorvit Torrealba, but they didn't go nowhere. Suzuki, 28, hit .218/.250/.286 with 1 HR and a 49 OPS+ in 278 plate appearances for the A's this...

Athletics 5, Blue Jays 4(15)

The Oakland Athletics won in 15 innings for the second time this week, with Jemile Weeks hitting a leadoff triple and scoring on Coco Crisp's sacrifice fly to beat Toronto 5-4 Friday night. Weeks was a star Monday night, too, when his sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 15th beat Tampa Bay. The A's became the first team to play a pair of 15-inning games in a five-day span...

A's Swap Suzuki For Prospect

Relatively quiet at the deadline, the Oakland A's made a move on Friday, dealing veteran catcher Kurt Suzuki to the Washington Nationals for prospect David Freitas.

Who Are You, Chris Carter?

How does Billy Beane do it? He consistently inserts these random players in to a hodge podge lineup and every 3 or 4 years he gets himself a pretty good team. It’s not nearly as romantic as they make it all sound in Moneyball, and most of it is due to the pitchers, but I’m still impressed. The Red Sox can barely put a winning team on the field with a 180 million dollar roster...
