PLAYERS: Mike Trout
TEAMS: Los Angeles Angels
Poor MJ. Mike Trout's offseason for him has been the equivalent to that one Christmas where his parents promised him a new ride and surprised him with a one month bus pass. Next stop, the bar.First, Trout got snubbed in the Gold Glove Award voting (Adam Jones? Really?). Luckily, the BBWAA got something right and unanimously voted Trout as the Rookie of the Year. Then they undid all that good in the MVP vote. Furniture, mirrors, stoneware, nothing was safe. Many hours of therapy, along with the viewing of this video, had Mr. Lloyd almost back to normal. Almost. On Nov. 9th, an item that was up for auction on eBay closed. The item had 27 bids on it. The item was Mike Trout's AA jersey which sold for $2,524.00. What people don't know is that bid #26 (as well as numbers 2,5,8,12,20,22 and 24) belonged to MJ, and with seven seconds left, almost certain the jersey was his, a late bid swooped in leaving MJ no time to recover. I warned MJ that $2,500 was simply too much money for...

5 Surprises: Non-Mike Trout EditionCan Carlos Gomez repeat his breakout year and is Austin Jackson really a .300 hitter?

We get it. Mike Trout shocked the baseball world. We’ve spent six months talking about how awesome he is, we’ll spend the next three months talking about how awesome he could potentially be and — while I desperately want Trout on my fantasy team next year — I don’t want to take the lazy way out and mention him in our 5 Outfield Surprises space. Maybe we’ll make this the...

Hanson just adds to the Angels' rotation question marks

The Angels of a year ago went into the season with their rotation feted as the strength of the team. Yes, they went out and got Pujols, and no one knew Trout was going to explode the way he did. The rotation was what impressed everyone. Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, C.J. Wilson and Ervin Santana were considered a formidable top four and Jerome Williams was a cut above for a fifth...

Los Angeles Angels 2013 Top-50 Prospects List

Intro by David Saltzer - AngelsWin.com Senior Writer By now most Angels fans have heard that the Angels farm system is “thin” on talent. And, in many ways, that is correct. However, such a description truly does not give an accurate reflection on the overall state of the farm. While we, at AngelsWin.com are not such homers as to deny the obvious, we also believe that...

Dodgers Move Closer To Signing Greinke

Things look to be moving in the right direction for the Los Angeles Dodgers as it pertains to their offseason prospects.  Just this last week they set up a meeting with star pitcher Zach Greinke and the meeting reportedly went well.  While it is anything but a done deal, picking up Greinke could make the Los Angeles Dodgers sure fire MLB picks going into the much anticipated 2013...

Braves May Have Traded Tommy Hanson to Avoid Injury Concerns

When the Atlanta Braves pulled off a deal with the Los Angeles Angels yesterday to send Tommy Hanson west, the deal felt lopsided.  The Braves were getting a relief pitcher who had never developed into anything close to a star.  Hanson, on the other hand, was a top prospect and exceeded expectations once he came up.  The trade seemed to be a loss on the Braves' end, but there...

Angels acquire Tommy Hanson from Braves for Jordan Walden

The Los Angeles Angels have acquired Tommy Hanson from the Atlanta Braves. The one time stud prospect has dealt with shoulder problems recently and has seen a decline in his velocity. Should he recover some of that loss velocity, Hanson has the ability to be a top of the line starter for years to come. Hanson, a 26-year-old right-hander has a 45-32 career record and 3.61 earned-run...

Rumor Mill: The Calm Before The Storm – Greinke Contenders, No Wilson, Shopping Dee

As most everybody knows by now, the Dodgers are in on Zack Greinke and desperately want him to be a part of the club. Dodgers executives met with Zack Greinke in Los Angeles yesterday, Yahoo’s Tim Brown reported last night. The Dodgers view Greinke as critical to their pitching staff, Brown reports. Greinke is believed to have enjoyed pitching for the Angels during the second half...

Scott Kazmir Drawing Interest After Winter League Start

Scott Kazmir was once one of the best young pitchers in the game.  However, injuries and an inability to reclaim his command led to him spending the entire 2012 season playing independent league baseball.  He is currently a free agent pitching in the Dominican Winter League, and his recent start has teams raising their eyebrows. According to ESPN's Buster Olney, team may...

LA Angels Winter Meetings Shopping List

The Winter Meetings have begun, so let's not screw around with one of trademark meandering intros.  Basically, the Halos need some stuff and the Winter Meetings is where stuff done gets got.  So what exactly do they need and what players might meet those needs? (Also, how many more times can I use the word "need" in this write-up?  Someone please get me a thesaurus...

The Zack Greinke Alternative

There’s not a whole lot of question right now regarding just who is the top free-agent starting pitcher available. When in doubt, follow the Dodgers. It was thought that re-signing Zack Greinke would be the Angels’ main offseason priority. They’re still interested, but they might be priced out. The Dodgers are in there and flashing their wallets. The Rangers might be just as...

Zack to the Future

"Maybe it works out better that the deal [with Washington] didn’t go through. In two years I might be a free agent, and then they get to keep the players [who would have been] in the trade. And some of those guys could end up being key players for them."(Zack Greinke, via Washington Post, 3/22/2011) And so, here we are two years after Zack Greinke snubbed...

Dugout Digest - winter meetings

Welcome one, and welcome all, to the 2012 MLB Winter Meetings in luxurious...Nashville? Yeah, Nashville. Anyway, the Winter Meetings every year are where all of the GMs around baseball meet and talk shop, and plenty of contracts and trades get done around this time of year. Last year, Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson signed with the Angels within something like a half hour of each other...
