Troy Tulowitzki's name has been thrown around in trade talks this offseason, however the big story this week isn't about where the Rockies' star shortstop might be headed, but rather where he came from. Tulowitzki pledged to donate $1 million to Long Beach State, where he was a two-time All-American from 2003-05, at his induction into the school's Hall of Fame on Tuesday night. The money will help renovate Blair Field. "There's no doubt it's a lot of money, but at the same time I wouldn't want to give it to anybody else other than this university,'' Tulowitzki said, via the Orange County Register . "I know it's going to be well spent." Tulowitzki can well afford it. He's signed through 2020, at an average of $18.6 million per year. But he's not too big to remember where he came from. "We're at a time to get where, to get recruits, they look at facilities," he said. "It's huge and I think it's going to make our team that much better, get us back right there in the national championship talk. So I'm excited to see the progress. I will definitely be coming back to the school more, hitting in the new cages, seeing the new field. I'm excited about that opportunity." Tulowitzki, a three-time All-Star, is a hot commodity, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports. He hit .312 with 25 home runs and 82 RBI in 126 games last season. Rosenthal's suggestion: Tulo to the Cardinals. Read the details of his proposed trade here. But the Rockies' VP says "He's not going anywhere, period."
