MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins announced several additions to their roster Tuesday their food roster, that is.There will be a handful of new concessions and food items at Target Field this season including many Minnesota-based companies as the Twins once again partner with Delaware North Sportservice. Highlighting the new items are Valentini's Mega Meatball (a cheese-stuffed meatball with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese), a deep-fried pickle from The Preferred Pickle and two Food Network brand items, the Bacon Sloppy Joe and Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. The Twins also announced the addition of several local craft beers from Surly and Fulton. The team also changed the name of the Twins Pub to 2 Gingers Pub."The menu in the ballpark is always going to be changing. We certainly have learned a lot over the first two years," Twins president Dave St. Peter said. "The food and beverage has certainly added a great deal to the overall ballpark experience and the brand. We felt as though there were some incremental opportunities to engage local Minnesota brands. Were excited to have a chance to announce some of those."Several other additions were announced Tuesday, including a baked potato bar that will serve several variations. Garlic fries popular in west coast stadiums such as AT&T Park in San Francisco will debut at Target Field this season.Leann Chin, a Twin Cities-based company, will also be serving stir-fry at Target Field. Fans have the choice of chicken stir-fry in red chile sauce or vegetarian stir-fry in a teriyaki sauce.Fans with a sweet tooth can enjoy two new additions as well: SuperMom's Mini Donuts (with powdered sugar, cinnamon or cinnamon and sugar) and Pearson's Salted Nut Roll."We take great pride in our state and our region. Certainly we think theres a lot of great brands in the food and beverage area and certainly thought this was another way to enhance the ballpark experience," St. Peter said. "Theres no shortage of options. Theres no shortage of companies that have interest. Our job is to try to wade through those and try to find whats the right fit for the ballpark and for our fans."While many new food items were introduced Tuesday, the favorite Target Field staples will still be returning. Fans can still find the Murray's Steak Sandwich, Kramarczuks sausages, Tony O's Cuban Sandwich, Turkey to Go, Walk A Taco and many more favorites throughout Target Field in 2012."I think some of the classics are still going to be favorites, whether it be Kramarczuks or the Murrays steak sandwich or the Schweigert hot dogs," St. Peter saidTwins fans can get their first taste of all the new concessions on April 9, when Minnesota hosts the Los Angeles Angels for the 2012 home opener.
