The Minnesota Twins had all sorts of fun at the expense of the Chicago White Sox on Friday, sweeping a doubleheader by scores of 7-5 and 3-2.
Nobody benefited more than reliever Brian Duensing , who came into the day with a 4-1 record and left 6-1 after throwing a total of 14 pitches.
Here's the short story on what turned out to be, well, a short story:
Duensing was the pitcher of record when the Twins took the lead in both games of the sweep. He struck out the only batter he faced in the seventh inning of the first game and pitched a perfect eighth inning in the nightcap.
In doing so, he became the first pitcher since Luis Vizcaino of the 2007 New York Yankees and the first player in Twins history to register two victories in one day.
The last pitcher in franchise history to accomplish the feat was Walter Johnson with the 1923 Washington Senators.
"That's just being in the right place in the right time," Duensing said.
Pretty good stuff for a guy who was in a bullpen "fight" during the doubleheader, too. Too much time on their hands for the Minnesota relievers?

Because apparently home runs by Chris Colabello and Chris Herrmann are not entertaining enough.

With each futile swing of the bat, the first stage of Josh Willingham's comeback from the disabled list grew increasingly disheartening Friday in Chicago.
Luckily for the Twins outfielder, who'd been out for more than a month following surgery for a meniscus tear, the men batting behind him were a little bit sharper.
After Willingham's swinging strikeout with the bases...
The Chicagoland long-ball barrage of August 2013 is now over.
And the Twins return home this week having emerged on the better end of it.

After sweeping the Yankees, you’d figure the White Sox would carry at least some positive momentum into a four-game, three-day series with the Minnesota Twins.
That wasn’t the case, as the Pale Hose dropped two close ones to the Twinkies in a split doubleheader on Friday, falling 7-5 in the afternoon and 3-2 in 10 innings at night.

Take a close look at the .GIF from Friday night’s game between the Twins and White Sox. You may notice a very odd situation happening as Chris Colabello’s home run entered the Twins’ bullpen area, and that would be what looks to be Jared Burton delivering a knockout punch to Brian Duensing. The sleuths over at the Pioneer Press were able to do some digging and found out that...
