Next in line to start in center field for Minnesota is Aaron Hicks.
After trading both Denard Span and Ben Revere this offseason, the rebuilding Twins have an opening at one of the most important positions in the lineup. Hicks will have the first crack at it.
Manager Ron Gardenhire told general manager Terry Ryan he hopes Hicks wins the job, despite the fact that the 23-year-old California native has not played above the Double-A level.
Hicks was drafted in the first round in 2008, the 14th overall selection from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach. There were some tough seasons in the minors, but last year Hicks hit .286 with 13 homers, 11 triples, 61 RBIs and 32 steals in 472 at-bats in the Eastern League for New Britain.

Allow me to try to simplify the sabermetric revolution as much as I can:
Late 20th Century: we are evaluating baseball players
Early 21st Century: we were so wrong about our baseball player evaluation!
Less Early 21st Century: we were so wrong about our baseball player evaluation, again!
First, there were players, then there were numbers. Then there were better numbers, then there...
Josh Willingham has played for three different teams in the last three years. Chances are he’s also made the rounds in your fantasy league as well.

Capps' deal includes a non-roster invitation to spring training camp. The 29-year-old has 138 career saves in 444 appearances for Pittsburgh, Washington and Minnesota. He opened last season closing for the Twins and had 14 saves in his first 15 chances. But Capps was slowed by shoulder inflammation...

Right-hander Matt Capps, who was sidelined by a shoulder injury last season, signed to a minor-league contract by the Cleveland Indians with a non-roster invitation to the major-league camp, the team announced Thursday. Capps started last season as the Minnesota Twins closer before he suffered shoulder inflammation in the last half of the season. He saved 14 of 15 games. Overall...
The Cleveland Indians have signed veteran reliever Matt Capps to a minor league deal. Capps pitched well in the first half of the 2012 season but missed almost the entire second half while dealing with shoulder issues.
By signing Capps to a minor league deal the Indians have little-to-no financial concerns should the 29-year-old prove to be unhealthy when the season starts. Should...
