The Minnesota Twins are hoping to sign free agent
left-hander Joe Saunders to a one-year contract, and they are currently waiting
to hear back from the veteran’s agent, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500
ESPN.
A team source said on Friday the Twins are waiting to hear
back from left-hander Joe Saunders' agent, Greg Genske.
Wolfson notes that if Saunders wants to be a Twin, he can
be. Minnesota continues to target Saunders on a one-year contract, but they may
be willing to push the offer to two years. However, Saunders is reportedly
seeking a three-year commitment this winter.
While general manager Terry Ryan wouldn’t specifically
comment on Saunders, he did say that whether or not Minnesota adds a starter
this winter will be determined by free agent’s interest in the Twins. Ryan
added that the Twins do have the payroll flexibility to add another arm.
Saunders spent the 2012 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks
and Baltimore Orioles. Over...

My first ever roto draft and Joe Mauer
Thanks to my colleagues over at MLB Dirt, I participated last night in my first ever mock draft. I had no strategy since I had no clue what I was doing and I never anticipated it would last three hours. But it was fun and it was a good exercise for a baseball writer because it forces you to think about players at different positions and make value judgements as to their relative...
Correia expects to eat up innings for Twins
MINNEAPOLIS As he looked for a team to sign with this offseason, veteran right-hander Kevin Correia saw the situation the Minnesota Twins were in and knew he would have a chance to contribute.
Minnesota's 2012 rotation ERA was 5.40, worst in the American League, and the Twins were looking to add several veteran arms to solidify the rotation. One of those additions ended up being...
Twins relying on Willingham's production
MINNEAPOLIS Josh Willingham followed up his career year by having a pretty good offseason. The Twins outfielder and Alabama native is also a season ticket holder to the University of Alabama football team.
As a result, he secured tickets to the BCS Championship game, which pitted the Crimson Tide against Notre Dame. Willingham and his family made the trip to Miami for the game,...

So what’s really going on?
Let me start out with a couple of facts. The Twins signed Kevin Correia for 2 years at 10 million dollars. The Twins signed Mike Pelfrey, coming off of Tommy John surgery, was signed for 1/4 (with bonuses). Scott Baker signed for 5.5 million for one season with the Cubs. Shaun Marcum was a primary target for the Twins by many accounts. Marcum signed with the Mets for 1/4, with up...

Hey, who turned all of Minnesota into a skating rink? I suspect Norm Coleman. He brought hockey back.
Ndamukong Suh saved Louie Anderson’s life, in one of the stranger interactions I have heard in a while.
Carl Pavano ruptured his spleen while shoveling. The only way I can imagine this happening is if, while shoveling, someone stabs you in the spleen.
I don’t know, I don’t...
