Jake Peavy delivered a masterful performance for the Chicago White Sox his last time out.
He's been plenty sharp against the Minnesota Twins of late, too.
With Peavy looking to build on his latest outing, the White Sox try to continue their recent success against the Twins as these AL Central rivals begin a weather-shortened series Saturday at U.S. Cellular Field.
Peavy (2-1, 3.93 ERA) was lights out Sunday, scattering five hits over seven innings of one-run ball in a 3-1 win at Cleveland. The right-hander struck out 11 to match his high from last season.
"He's not just throwing to one side of the plate," manager Robin Ventura told MLB's official website. "He'll mix it in on the inside part and backdoor you on the outside so I think he was just sharp today. He seemed to be hitting the glove."
Peavy has also been superb in winning four consecutive starts against the Twins (6-7), compiling a 1.73 ERA and striking out 23 in 26 innings. He's ...

The Chicago White Sox say outfielder Dayan Viciedo is undergoing treatment for a strained oblique muscle.
Viciedo was injured in Thursday's game at Toronto, and the team says he is day to day.
He clutched his left side after swinging at a 1-0 pitch from Aaron Loup in the eighth inning and left the game. Viciedo is batting .229 with two homers and five RBIs.
The White Sox were...
MLB News: The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Dayan Viciedo on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique issue. Projected to hit a solid 2-25 home runs for the season, Viciedo’s oblique strain will definitely bite into those numbers.
Fantasy Ramifications: While it will be a group of players trying to fill in for Viciedo while he sits on the disabled list, one thing is for...
MLB News: The Chicago White Sox recalled Blake Tekotte on Sunday from Triple-A Charlotte. Helping fill the roster void created when Dayan Viciedo went on the disabled list, he is expected to take spot turns and offer bench depth.
Fantasy Ramifications: Tekotte holds no true fantasy baseball value. Not only is he not a starter int he majors, he isn’t even the main reserve. Look...
The Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Dayan Viciedo
on the disabled list with a strained left oblique, the team has announced.
Viciedo suffered his injury earlier this week while swinging
and missing at a pitch. He was in such pain, that he fell to one knee before
ultimately being removed from the contest. After the game, he told reporters
that it hurt when he...
Chicago's Chris Sale bounced back from a career-worst performance.
But it wasn't enough to beat knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
Dickey threw six shutout innings before leaving with soreness in his neck and back, Rajai Davis had two hits and the Toronto Blue Jays beat Sale and the White Sox 3-1 on Thursday.
Sale (1-2) allowed a career-high eight runs in his previous start on...
Dayan Viciedo has been placed on the disabled list. Dayan is listed on the 15 day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle and Blake Tekotte from Charlotte has been called up to replace him for now.
Jake Peavy (3.54 ERA) is on the mound today. I am trying to get a visual feed but at the moment not having much luck so its game cast while I work on...
After losing second baseman Gordon Beckham last week, the Chicago White Sox suffered a further blow on Thursday night when left fielder Dayan Viciedo left the game with an oblique injury.
Daryl van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Viciedo hurt his left oblique swinging at a pitch from Esmil Rogers during the 3-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Viciedo was quick...
After Friday's rain out, the White Sox got their series started at home against the Minnesota Twins Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately it was a familiar sight for 2013 Sox followers.
It was yet another pitcher's duel, as both Jake Peavy and Vance Worley brought their A-games.
Both pitchers went 7 innings, allowing only one run before handing it over to their...
Retired Chicago White Sox legend Frank Thomas has two homes listed for sale, one in Libertyville, Illinois and the other just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. He’s asking for a combined $4.45 million for the two properties.

Tyler Greene make his first appearance in a White Sox grey since being picked up from Triple - A Charlotte, prior to this past Sunday’s series with the Indians due to not only Gordon Beckham but Angel Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with back issues....
Though it took longer than we may have hoped, the White Sox finally pulled off their first comfortable victory of the season in which they didn't have to fight and scrap until the very end to get the W. But the recipe for success was nothing new: a lot of pitching and a dash of power.
Our finesse south paw, Jose Quintana, brought his A-game for the second straight...
Ryan Doumit doubled and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on Alexei Ramirez's throwing error, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Saturday.
Doumit led off with a double off Hector Santiago (0-1). After Aaron Hicks popped up a bunt attempt, Eduardo Escobar hit a slow grounder that shortstop Ramirez fielded cleanly but bounced his throw to first...
The White Sox were unable to win the series against the Blue Jays, falling 3-1 today to earn a split against the team from north of the border. With that, our Palehose end the road trip with a less than stellar 3-7 record, and you can bet the house that Robin and the boys are more than happy to head back to the Southside.
Well, it certainly was an...
Due to high winds and extreme cold the opening game against the Minnesota Twins has been CANCELLED.
I think it will do us some good to have that extra day to rest. Be at home in familiar surrounds.
I am off to do some writing and knitting and will see you at 4:35am Australia time for game two in this series. If I get any more information I will get it on to you as...
