FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Vance Worley managed to become a fan favorite in Philadelphia despite pitching on a staff that included Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels. Now with the Minnesota Twins, the 25-year-old Californian will have a chance to stand out again. In fact, he could end up being the team's opening day starter. "It means a lot. It means they trust me to come over from another organization, one," Worley said. "But two, to take the ball on Game 1 -- that's big. That means you mean something to the organization." It's still a hypothetical for now. The Twins made wholesale changes to their starting rotation, which was a mess last year aside from left-hander Scott Diamond. Worley was acquired in December when Minnesota sent outfielder Ben Revere to the Phillies, and he could be the Twins' top starter if Diamond isn't healthy by the opener. After a couple starts in 2010, Worley won 11 of his first 12 decisions the following seas...

Minnesota Twins: 3 Up and 3 Down

Joe Mauer The Minnesota Twins finished 2012 with the worst record, 66-96, in the American League. They ranked 28th in baseball with a team ERA of 4.77 and their staff finished dead last in all of baseball with 943 strikeouts. Things weren’t that much better offensively where the Twinkies eked out a meager 131 home runs which ranked them 27th in baseball. Josh Willingham did have...

Q&A: Ryan O’Rourke, Twins Future LOOGY

Ryan O’Rourke isn’t as talented as some of his 2012 teammates, nor is his future as bright as many of the hitters he faced in the Midwest League. The Minnesota Twins pitching prospect is realistic about his strengths and weaknesses, with no illusions of becoming the next Frank Viola. He does, however, intend to pitch in the big leagues. A 13th-round pick in 2010 out of Merrimack...

Baseball America lists six Twins in top 100 list

The Minnesota Twins have historically prided themselves on having a strong farm system. Now, Minnesota's minor leaguers rank among the best in baseball. Baseball America unveiled its Top 100 prospects list Tuesday, and the Twins had six players make the list. That included two players in the top 10, as third baseman Miguel Sano and outfielder Byron Buxton checked in at Nos....

Carl Pavano nearly died shoveling snow

Jeeze Louise.  The guy slipped on ice, fell on his shovel and put a divot into his spleen. If he hadn't gone to the E.R. when he did, the Twins would be wearing black arm-bands this year. They removed his spleen. He's lost a lot of weight. He's vowing to return. I dunno. Hard to think about Pavano, considering all the pain he brought upon the Yankiverse. Remember when...

Buy Carl Pavano’s Florida House For Only $3 Million

Carl Pavano has placed his Palm Beach Gardens, FL house on the market for $3 million. The 37-year old righty went from being a back-to-back opening day starter for the Twins in 2011 and 2012 to not even being in baseball this year. Time to sell! That 4-year, $40 million deal he signed with the Yankees back in 2004 seems so far away. 2013 has not been kind to pitcher Carl Pavano...
