Two Rangers Minor Leaguers Suspended for PEDs

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that two Minor League players from the Texas Rangers organization, pitchers Orlando Caraballo and Miguel Munoz, have been suspended after each tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Both players tested positive for Boldenone. Caraballo has received a 50-game suspension, while Munoz has received a 100-game suspension for a second violation. Munoz was suspended for 50 games on September 17, 2008 after testing positive for Mephentermine. The suspensions of both players, who are members of the organization’s Dominican Summer League team, are effective immediately. With the two players today, suspensions at the minor league level total 36 players, 13 of which are from the Dominican Summer League, or 36 percent of the total.
