UPDATE 12:20 PM: Kyle McPherson is listed as the starter tonight in Indianapolis on the MiLB.com schedule page. He will be making his Triple-A debut.
12:12 PM: The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted right-handed pitcher Tyler Waldron to Altoona, Pirates Prospects has learned. Waldron will start tonight against Bowie. The original scheduled starter was Kyle McPherson, who was promoted to Indianapolis the other day.
Waldron had a 5.09 ERA in 115 innings with Bradenton this year, including a 73:29 K/BB ratio. It’s unknown whether he’ll stay in Altoona, but considering they’re down a starter with McPherson leaving, it wouldn’t be out of the question. That raises an interesting situation in Bradenton, as they were already down one starter with Colton Cain leaving, and now they’ll be down two without Waldron.
