When the Texas Rangers acquired both Mike Adams and Koji Uehara on deadline day last July, it was thought that the Rangers would instantly be vaulted to the top of the best bullpens in baseball. Uehara put up a 1.72 ERA with a freakish strikeout to walk ratio for the Baltimore Orioles before being brought to Texas, where things didn't go so well. Now, the Rangers are reportedly in talks with other teams about possibly trading Uehara now that the Rangers have a luxurious surplus of arms on their pitching staff and with Alexi Ogando seemingly primed for a return to the bullpen. Uehara was a fan favorite for the Rangers, known for his animated celebrations on his way back to the dugout between innings, but he did a lot more falling flat on his face than coming up in big situations once he got to Arlington. Uehara was 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA in 22 regular-season appearances for the Rangers, but he really started failing in the postseason when the stress level was notched up about 20 spo...

Koji Uehara Rejects Trade To Blue Jays

Rangers reliever Koji Uehara has invoked his no-trade clause to reject a trade to the Blue Jays, reports Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas. The right-hander's limited no-trade clause allows him to block trades to six teams, and Toronto is one of those six. Uehara, who turns 37 in April, posted a 2.35 ERA, an 11.8 K/9 rate, and a phenomenal 9.44 K/BB ratio in 65 games last season...

Maddux confident Darvish will return ready

FORT WORTH, Texas Texas right-hander Yu Darvish is back in Japan training without the Rangers keeping tabs on him. That's fine with Texas pitching coach Mike Maddux. "He'll be on his own," Maddux said. "You've got to remember he's a veteran player. He's 25, but he's a veteran player. I'm pretty sure their spring training programs have...

Why is Colby Lewis a Rotation Lock?

Almost forgotten in the "Rangers didn't get Fielder," story line which has eclipsed all other news this week, is that, yes, the Rangers signed Yu Darvish. Without thinking about it deeply, Darvish simply rolls into C.J. Wilson's vacated slot since Wilson signed with the Angels. But it's far more complicated than, "Darvish equals Wilson." The Rangers...

Hamilton Focused on Baseball, Not Contract

Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton talks about not having a long-term deal in place before Spring Training.

Darvish and Texas History

Rangers Notes: Hamilton, Arb Dates, Fielder

Here's the latest on the two-time defending American League champs... Josh Hamilton said he hasn't heard any new information from his agent about a possible long-term extension with Texas.  Hamilton spoke to media (including ESPN Dallas' Richard Durrett) at a Rangers winter caravan event and said he was holding to his deadline of cutting off contract talks at the...

Baseball Roundup: Rangers’ Yu Darvish Left Japan With Goal of Becoming World’s Best Pitcher

After seven seasons in Japan, Yu Darvish signed with the Texas Rangers because he said he wanted to face the best hitters and become the “No. 1 pitcher in the world.”

Darvish > A couple of Cowboys assistant coaches

As a wee elementary school lad when Nolan Ryan was brought to the Rangers back in the day, it's hard to remember the spectacle. It's also hard to imagine it being bigger than Friday's at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Yu Darvish was introduced at a Rangers press conference that was loaded with media folks from across the globe. Earlier in the week, the Cowboys held an...

Hamilton taking contract talks in stride
