Found May 14, 2012 on MetsZilla:

Tonight the Mets got excellent performances from Miguel Batista, Daniel Murphy and a perfectly executed squeeze bunt from Ronny Cedeno to lead the team to a 3-1 win in the first of two against the Brewers.  Also note-worthy, is that Frank Francisco was able to record his 9th save of the season, although it wasn’t easy.

Let’s focus on the great tonight first, and that starts with Batista’s seven shut out innings, allowing only 4 hits, and putting the Mets in a position to steal a win against a very good pitcher, albeit currently struggling, Yovani Gallardo.  The positive energy keeps flowing when I think about the performance from Daniel Murphy tonight, who went 2-4 with a RBI and a run.  Murphy’s lone run of the game was scored on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Cedeno, that pushed the Mets lead to 2-0, a lead they would not relinquish.

Now let’s talk about the elephant in the room, the Mets’ closing situation.  Frank Frank came on tonight and wasn’t exactly lights out, giving up a run on two hits, and a walk.  Most important though, was that Frank Frank got it done, which is great because had he not we’d be talking about who is going to be closing tomorrow.  It was nice to get the win tonight, even though it wasn’t easy.

Tomorrow the Mets will send Dillon Gee to the mound against Zack Greinke.  Should be a fun one.

Let’s go Mets.

Miguel Batista has delivered for Mets as a starting pitcher

Most of the talk around the Mets is centered around if Chris Young or Jenrry Mejia should be the team’s fifth starter after Chris Schwinden failed miserably in his brief audition for the role. Young was terrific in four starts with the club last year while Mejia in one of The Queens Quads that fans are eager to see perform in Citi Field. But lost in the shuffle is the ancient...

Batista Dominates In A Shaky 3-1 Mets Win

Recap He came up to the mound, everyone doubting him and he shocked the world. Miguel Batista was on fire tonight! He dominated the Brewers tonight and lasted longer than most of our starters do. Going seven strong innings, only allowing four hits, one walk, striking out five and at one point set down 12 of 13 batters he faced. He impressed me and impressed everyone. He’ll earn...

Final Score: Mets 3, Brewers 1

The New York Mets (20-15) defeated the Milwaukee Brewers (15-20) tonight by the score of 3-1. The Mets have taken the first game of this two-game series. Miguel Batista looked excellent tonight. It was a classic case of a veteran pitcher keeping hitters off balance all night long. He gave the Mets seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk, while striking out five batters...

Name and Number

The trick to navigating life is perception. For example, you might think Miguel Batista is old, but Jamie Moyer wants Batista off his lawn.So did the Brewers. But they only got four hits off him in seven innings, so maybe get some more hits off him if you want him off the lawn sooner. (Age ain't nothin' but a number.) Batista led the Mets to a 3-1 victory in which Frank Francisco...

KRod Shows Aramis the Family Room. Post-Game: Mets 3, Brewers 1

Terry Collins was right…twice.  First, he stood up for Miguel Batista, saying he was going to get many more chances to prove himself as a starting pitcher.  Well, tonight he did more than prove himself, throwing 7 scoreless innings of 4-hit ball.  He stymied the Brewers tonight, with Tim Byrdak and Bobby Parnell taking care of the 8th inning.  On a side note, Bobby Parnell...

Mets 3, Brewers 1

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets didn't just literally squeeze out an important run against stingy Milwaukee Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo. They also kept the Brewers from doing the same against winning pitcher Miguel Batista. The starters dueled so effectively in the Mets' 3-1 win Monday night that both teams attempted one-out suicide squeeze plays with the bottom of their...
