ARLINGTON, Texas Scott Feldman jokingly referred to himself as a utility pitcher Wednesday afternoon. Feldman's utility-like week continues Thursday when he makes a spot start for Colby Lewis, who went on the disabled list Tuesday with tightness in his right forearm. Sunday night Feldman was warming in the ninth inning during the game against Colorado. Monday he was warming in the first inning with Justin Grimm struggling. Feldman, who will make his ninth start of the season, understands weeks like this come with the territory. "It was tough at the beginning of the year but I've sort of gotten used to what my role is," said Feldman, who will be starting with eight days' rest. "I kind of got used to the program. I try to go out there and stay mentally involved and do as well as I can. In a perfect world, which it's not, I would like to know what I'm doing all the time. For right now, this is fine. I'm just happy to be getting the ball." Feldman (1-6) had his best start in his last outing. He allowed two earned runs against San Diego and picked up his lone win of the season in the 7-3 victory. No plan yet The Rangers are still undecided on a Saturday starter. Right-hander Justin Grimm and left-hander Martin Perez are both candidates but that could change if either are needed in relief the next couple of days. Texas went into Wednesday's game without Michael Kirkman available. Kirkman pitched five innings in relief of Grimm Monday. Mark Lowe, who pitched three innings Monday, was available for an inning. Decision time looming Texas manager Ron Washington will get the results of the player voting Friday as he prepares to fill out the American League All-Star team, which will be announced Sunday. Washington should have more pitchers available this year than last year. Pitchers who pitch on the Sunday before the All-Star Game will have the option of pitching in the Tuesday game with a pitch count. Sunday pitchers last year weren't allowed to pitch in the game. "It means everything that I can go with everything the American League has to offer," said Washington, who will manage the AL team for a second-consecutive year. "The National League certainly had the best they had to offer. Make no excuse, we still got beat. But I'd still like to have all my bullets."

ARLINGTON, Texas The list of injured Texas Rangers starters has grown by one. Texas put right-hander Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list with tendonitis in his right forearm. LHP Perez headed to Rangers from Triple A

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers are recalling left-hander Martin Perez for tonight's game against Detroit. The club will make a corresponding roster move before the game. Perez, who is on the 40-man roster, is 5-5 with a 4.59 ERA in 15 starts for Round Rock. He's pitched well recently, winning is last two starts while allowing two runs in 16 innings. The Rangers...

Darvish finishes strong to get 10th win

ARLINGTON, Texas Just imagine how impressive Yu Darvish would be if it weren't for the first inning. Darvish had another rough first inning Tuesday night against the Tigers, but overcame it to record his 10th win and his fourth game with 10 or more strikeouts. He's now tied with the Mets' R.A. Dickey for double-digit strikeout games. With the 7-5 victory, the Japanese...

Lewis added to Rangers' list of pitchers on DL

The Texas Rangers placed starting pitcher Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday because of tendinitis in his right forearm. Lewis is one of four Rangers pitchers on the DL. Memorable Moments in Sports: Josh Hamilton’s Home Run Derby in 2008

I think it’s safe to say that this is one of if not the most impressive display of skill in a sport in an event that didn’t even remotely matter. I mean when you take into account stuff like skills competitions in basketball or NFL combine type stuff, Josh Hamilton’s Home Run Derby of 2008 ranks at or near the top of my list of “stuff I had to watch.” Although I really...

Rangers 13, Tigers 9

David Murphy went 4-for-5 with two home runs and matched his career high with five RBIs to make a winner out of Roy Oswalt in the Texas Rangers' 13-9 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night. Ian Kinsler added a two-run homer and Adrian Beltre had three hits and an RBI in support of Oswalt, who earned his second victory in as many starts with the Rangers by pitching...

Rangers 7, Athletics 6

Leadoff man Ian Kinsler got four hits, scored three runs and stole two bases Thursday night, sending the Texas Rangers past the Oakland Athletics 7-6 for their 11th win in 13 games. Josh Hamilton, Adrian Beltre and David Murphy each drove in two runs for Texas in a game that lasted 3 hours, 54 minutes, the Rangers' longest nine-inning game of the season. Scott Feldman (2-6...

Murphy’s five RBI help keep Tigers at bay

A game in which Roy Oswalt goes six innings and David Murphy has four hits, including two home runs, sounds like an easy win, right? Not so fast there. No.  My boys had to make it interesting again. Roy Oswalt was decent tonight.  Not great, but decent.  He pitched six innings, allowing five runs on 13 hits.  Yeah, that’s a lot of hits, Roy.  You’re probably lucky the Tigers...

Can The A's Handle The Heat In Texas?

If the Oakland A's hope to make any noise in the American League playoff race this season, they will have to start with a good showing in a tough series on the road against the division leading Texas Rangers.

Game 2012.74: Tigers at Rangers

36-37, 3rd place, 2 games behind CWS. Rick P climbed the mound last night against the same team that battered him for the worst performance of his career eight weeks ago, and turned in his best performance of the year. He threw first pitch strikes to 19 out of 27 batters, and used the Texas heat to consistently threw his best sinker of the year down in the strike zone. Now, he still...

Texas Rangers Jumbotron: “Happy Birthday Deron William, Be A Maverick”

In light of the Brooklyn Nets dolling up that van to say “Happy Birthday” outside of D-Will’s house, Dallas Mavericks have joined the action. Technically. The Texas Rangers had this message on their jumbotron on Tuesday: H/T I Am A GM

Get ready for Rangers to fill up All-Star roster

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By MIKE FITZPATRICK AP Sports Writer Two straight trips to the World Series have turned the Texas Rangers into baseball's glamour gang. Josh Hamilton is the most popular player in the game. Mike Napoli could run for mayor of Arlington. Adrian Beltre, Nelson Cruz and Yu Darvish - household names by now. Just a few years ago the Rangers were toiling in...

Drew Smyly Rocked by Texas Rangers in Return From DL

Unlike in Monday's wire-to-wire win, the Tigers could not make an early lead stand up, and they dropped a 7-5 decision. Continue reading →
