Chase Utley homered in his last rehab stint tonight at AAA Lehigh Valley. He went 2 for 5 with a single as well. He did strike out twice. The Iron Pigs won the game 10-3 over the Rochester Red Wings. He should return to the major league lineup tomorrow vs. the Pirates where it will most likely be a "pitching by committee" game for the Phils due to the double header on Sunday.

In other news, Ryan Howard will return to Philadelphia on Wednesday for more tests on his Achillies. If all goes well he will start his rehab assignment on Thursday in Single-A Lakewood. That means he would have to be back with the Phillies by July 20th at the absolute latest.

Utley does not think his Wednesday return will be too late

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley worked out with the Phillies on Monday, and if all goes well in his final rehab game on Tuesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Utley will be activated and bat third for the Phillies on Wednesday. Utley has been on the disabled list since the season started because of chondromalacia in his left knee. Although the team is in last place...

Chase Utley hadn't played a game for the Philadelphia Phillies since October 7. Since Spring Training, fans have been left in the dark regarding Utley's health and whether the 33-year-old second baseman would ever play another inning of baseball for the Phillies, or any Major League team, ever again. It certainly didn't look good for either the Phillies or Utley...

Chase Utley Forced to Wear No. 21 on Rehab Assignment Because Mascot Wears His No. 26

When superstars go on a rehab assignment, they usually get everything they want, including which jersey number they get to wear. It seems like that doesn't happen in Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs mascot FeRROUS wears Chase Utley's No. 26, so Utley now has to wear No. 21 for the first time in his career when he begins his rehab assignment with the Triple-A Iron...

Utley lifts Phils; bullpen drops them

After missing 46 games last season and another 76 this season, Chase Utley's knees were strong enough to get him back in the Phillies lineup. His return was triumphant, but the bullpen simply couldn't keep pace in an 11-7 loss to Pittsburgh.

This season for Phillies turning out like a Greek tragedy or Shakespeare play

The fans cheered and cheered as Chase Utley stepped to the plate in the first inning of what would be an 11-7 Pirate victory on Wednesday. He did not disappoint, as he homered on a James McDonald offering. Freak, it was 2012 all over again. I would have cheered my fool head off, too. Utley rang the bell, but instead of being the Phillies savior, he is Quasimoto ringing the bell...
