Found June 09, 2012 on We Should Be GM's:
Raul Valdes was optioned to Triple-A.  Why?  Certainly not because of his performance, because he is one of the few stabilizing forces in the bullpen.  Nope, it's because of the ineffectiveness of Michael Schwimer and Chad Qualls.  See,  Schwimer and Qualls are right-handed and they each suck.  That leaves the only quality RHP in the bullpen as closer Jonathan Papelbon.  Valdes is a lefty, so he goes. Can't wait to see the crap Amaro calls up to replace Valdes.  Brian Sanches?  Phillippe Aumont?  There's nothing down on the farm screaming "give me a chance!"  Funny/sad thing is, Valdes held right-handed batters to a lower average than lefties (.130 vs. .200).  Not sure why fellow lefties Joe Savery and Jake Diekman stay over him, but I'm not GM, just a wannabe, so...Valdes: 2-0, 11 G, 12.2 IP, 13 K, 2.13 ERA, 0.63 WHIP.Joe Savery: 13 G, 17.1 IP, 9 K, 3.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP.Jake Diekman: 1-0, 10 G, 8.2 IP, 15 K, 4.15 ERA, 1.38.Other Stuff:*All of you Freddy ...

Phillies' infield shows cracks

When Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel wrote out his lineup card Thursday morning, the highlight was the last name he penciled in: Cole Hamels. On a day game after a night game, Manuel gave his hot-hitting catcher and current cleanup hitter Carlos Ruiz the day off, and, in turn, was left with another hole in the middle of his lineup and what amounted to his worst defensive...
