Florida Marlins starter Javier Vazquez pitched his first shutout in six years as the Marlins took care of the Washington Nationals Friday night 3-0. Vazquez only allowed five hits and has been on fire as of late.
His last shutout that he pitched was in 2008. Vazquez wins his fourth straight start to improve to 11-11 and has been 8-4 with a 1.96 ERA in his last 29 innings of work.
John Buck, Gaby Sanchez and Mike Stanton all drove in runs in support of Vazquez in the first three innings.
