All those who thought Justin Verlander wouldn't make it through the season without a hitch most likely have "I told you so" comments locked and loaded and ready to fire at this most recent news . Since Verlander has already thrown more inning this year than he did all of last season, it's not a surprise he's beginning to tire. Hopefully, as the Detroit Weblogger notes, this is more in line with Jim Leyland's plan to limit Verlander's work over the final two months than it is of any long term concern.
Verlander has 14 wins and could challenge for 20, but he's likely to miss an outing here and there and be pulled more quickly from starts down the stretch. It won't help his Cy Young chances, but it should give the Tigers a better chance to have their ace healthy entering the playoffs.
