The above video, an Oakland A's ad featuring Gio Gonzalez heckling Kurt Suzuki ("Hey, I guess your lucky pooka shells ain't working today!"), and a dunk tank, is pretty great. (H/T @recordsANDradio for unearthing the video) And so, Jesus Flores may not be thrilled with Suzuki's arrival, but Gio and Kurt sure seem to be: Befriend Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Jesus Flores blindsided by Kurt Suzuki trade

Uh oh...nobody told Jesus Flores about the Kurt Suzuki trade? "I didn't know. I just know because you (told me). I didn't know. Nobody has told me anything. ...I don't even want to talk about it. I'm just in shock. I didn't know we had a new catcher." (Jesus Flores, via Nationals Pastime/MASN, 8/3/2012) Befriend Nats Enquirer on Facebook...

Gio Gonzalez high-fiving nobody sums up his Friday night quite nicely

"I thought he pitched good. I thought he pitched good enough to win." (Davey Johnson on Gio, via MASN/postgame presser, 8/3/2012) Marlins 5, Nationals 2 (Game 2): Death, taxes, and Josh Johnson beating the Nats. Bad sixth dooms Gio. Suzuki traded from Athletics to Nationals so former Washington prospect can start in Oakland

Sometimes its funny that some irony pops itself into the grand scheme of things. The Nationals were happy with their catching situation and depth when they traded Derrick Norris with three young pitchers to the Athletics in the Gio Gonzalez trade. The Nats had their catcher of the future with Wilson Ramos, but Ramos suffered a season ending knee injury. Back up catcher...
