While Justin Verlander was using his smile to cure awful diseases (or close to it), Miguel Cabrera used his visit to the MLB Fan Cave to show off his acting... talents.
While I won't be getting over the shirtless fat guy running through the streets of New York City (at 0:23 if you're too scared to expose yourself to it), the fact that Cabrera is finally embracing the "Miggy Smalls" moniker that I've been using for years. If Rod Allen calls him "Cabby" one more time... take 3 drinks.
BEST OF MAXIM
Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera took part in a telenovela spoof during his recent visit to the MLB Fan Cave.

Cabrera played the role of "Miggy Poco", with special guest star and comedian Jon Glaser playing Tigers manager Jim Leyland (using a paper Leyland mask on his face to play the part).

It appears that Miguel Cabrera has found his calling. That’s right, he’s acting. Cabrera is staring in his own telenovela. This show comes complete with Cabrera in an eye patch, a fat guy running with no shirt on, an absolutely beautiful woman and a guest appearance from a Jim Leyland impersonator. This looks to be top-notch
DETROIT --- Delmon Young was back in uniform Friday night, a week after being arrested in New York for an alleged hate crime.
He's hoping that will be the next step in regaining some normality in his life.
Young came off baseball's restricted list at the end of his seven-day suspension, and met with the media before Detroit's game against Chicago. He started the press...
If you scan the league leaders in ERA you might be surprised to see Detroit Tigers rookie Drew Smyly among the leaders at 1.23. Technically his 22.0 innings don’t qualify Smyly to be among the leaders, but it’s hard not to be impressed with what the 22-year old southpaw has done.
. It’s not like he’s had an easy path to his early success. He’s faced...
DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young has been reinstated and is eligible to play Friday night against the Chicago White Sox.
Young was suspended for seven days without pay by Major League Baseball after he was arrested last week and charged with yelling anti-Semitic epithets during a late-night tussle at a New York hotel.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland has said he...
DETROIT (AP) -- Jhonny Peralta's two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Detroit Tigers a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.
Chicago led 4-2 after Gordon Beckham's tiebreaking two-run shot in the seventh, but Detroit got a run back in the eighth on an RBI single by Miguel Cabrera. After Alex Avila's one-out single in the ninth, Peralta...
The Detroit Tigers announced Friday they have activated designated hitter Delmon Young from his one-week suspension and have designated outfielder Brad Eldred for assignment. Young was suspended for one week by Major League Baseball last month for his arrest on aggravated harassment charges in New York, stemming from an anti-Semitic rant against a pan-handler. Tigers manager...
In the latest podcast, the staff discusses those players that are slumping early in the season, how the organization values Rick Porcello and Max Scherzer, which minor leaguers are making an early case for a promotion, and how the Tigers draft strategy will play out.
MUST HAVE DUST IN MY EYE
While visiting the MLB Fan Cave, 11-year-old Shayna Hersh, who is battling cystic fibrosis, had a dream come true when she met Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.
DETROIT (AP) - Chris Getz's infield single in the ninth inning put Kansas City ahead, and the Royals held on to beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 Wednesday.
Joaquin Benoit (0-1) gave up a double to Mike Moustakas, who advanced to third on a groundout and scored when Getz hit a grounder that was too deep into the hole for shortstop Jhonny Peralta to make a strong enough throw.
Prior to the start of the season, few would have considered a matchup between Detroit's Drew Smyly and Chicago's Jake Peavy a pitchers' duel.
Both are off to sensational starts, however, and runs could be hard to come by when the two square off in Friday night's series opener between the Tigers and White Sox at Comerica Park.
After opening 9-3, Detroit (12-12) has...
In what was supposed to be a three game series between the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals, turned into a rain shortened series.
Detroit came into the series looking to get their offense back on track and start winning at home. The Royals, winners of their last four of five, looked to bring their record back up towards the .500 mark. Last time these two teams faced off...
