Even In Defeat Matt Harvey Makes Impact For Mets

You knew Matt Harvey wasn’t going to win them all, but the flip side is the New York Mets can’t lose all his starts, either. Right? HARVEY: A lot to like, even in defeat. (AP) At one time Harvey was 4-0 and we were wondering what else could come his way after a Sports Illustrated cover and dating a model. A few runs would be nice, but let’s not get greedy. Since that start...

Wainwright, Hart And The Friday Links

So on his off-day on Monday of this week, Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright took a detour on his way to New York and stopped off at the ESPN campus to get showered with love and plastered all over SportsCenter. Oh, wait. The World Wide Leader actually barely used him at all, because, you know, LeBron. He did get to meet comedian Kevin Hart, who he pitched against in a...

Mets Waste A Gem By Harvey In 2-1 Loss To Cards

Well, this is sort of becoming the norm now, isn’t it? You can almost predict exactly what’s going to happen. Matt Harvey goes out, pitches his heart out, and somehow gets cheated out of a win. As much as we all hoped for that streak to break today, the Mets offense was not up to the task of handling Adam Wainwright. The Mets were shut down through the first seven innings by...

Harvey vs. Wainwright: Top Two NL Hurlers Go Head to Head

Today’s pitching matchup at Citi Field, Adam Wainwright vs. Matt Harvey, is a duel between the two best pitchers in the National League according to the Factor12 (F12) Rating. F12 compares each MLB pitcher to the current statistical league average. (Here is a more detailed description of F12) Wainwright (33.001 F12, 1st) is having an incredible season for the Cardinals, having...

Matt Harvey Has Become The New Johan Santana

Matt Harvey has become the new Johan Santana of the Mets, and that is not in reference to his skills or his emergence into the staff’s ace. Harvey has been lights out all season long, and should have at least ten wins under his belt. However despite his 2.04 ERA, Matt Harvey sits at 5-1 on the year, that one loss coming last night after he allowed just a lone run over seven frames...

King of the hill: Breaking down Wainwright's 999 strikeouts

Article courtesy of FOX Sports Midwest Producer Max Leinwand. ST. LOUIS - Adam Wainwright came up for two games in 2005, and in two innings, didnt strike out a batter. But he eventually got career strikeout number one in game one of the 2006 season against the Phillies. That was one of 72 strikeouts in 75 innings of relief work in 2006 - a rate of 8.64 per nine innings. Since...

Weather Could Keep Harvey, Wheeler Day From Happening

Looks like Harvey-Wheeler Day may be in real jeopardy of not happening. There is now a strong likelihood that this afternoon’s game against the Cardinals could be postponed as heavy rains and dangerous lightning head into our area. If today’s game against the Cardinals is washed out, it would mean that Matt Harvey’s start would be pushed to Friday against the Cubs, making it...

Cards' Wainwright 1st 10-game winner

Adam Wainwright became the major leagues' first 10-game winner by pitching seven scoreless innings and sent Matt Harvey to his first loss of the season, leading the St. Louis Cardinals over the New York Mets 2-1 Thursday in a classic pitching matchup. Wainwright (10-3) retired his first 11 batters before David Wright's single, and allowed four hits with six strikeouts and...

Drunk (?!) Mets fan falls down for no reason (VIDEO)

The Cardinals beat the Mets 2-1 Thursday afternoon at Citi Field in New York.  Trevor Rosenthal came on in the eighth inning in relief of Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright who threw seven shutout innings. The pressure of standing and watching a one-run ball game was apparently too much for this Mets fan in the background.  For absolutely no reason at all, aside from TMB (too much...

The Fab Five: MLB Power Rankings 5

This week’s edition of the “Fab Five Power Rankings” has a few more changes than usual as the Texas Rangers have begun to feel the effects of both the impressive play of the Oakland Athletics who have pulled even with Texas for the A.L.West lead as of Tuesday, as well as a pitching

Tough Times in Las Vegas

Zack Wheeler pulled a Matt Harvey on Thursday night and took a tough loss.  He pitched well, up until a home run was given up to Carlos Peguero in the fifth inning, in hitter-friendly Las Vegas.  He then settled back in to retire the next two batters to end the inning.  In the sixth inning, he proceeded to strike out the next two batters, and then rising star Jack Leathersich...

Recap: Cards beat Mets in a big game for Waino

In His Final Tuneup Before Debut, Wheeler Will Be On 85 Pitch Limit Tonight

Looks like Harvey-Wheeler Day is still on… Thanks Mother Nature… Matt Musico from MetsMinors.net just posted the following: Zack Wheeler will be making his final minor league start tonight before getting promoted to the major leagues. He’s set to debut on Tuesday at Turner Field against the Atlanta Braves, about 45 minutes away from his childhood home. He takes the mound tonight...

Mets Fan Takes Tumble, Loses Drink in Bleachers at Citi Field (Video)

Here is the New York Mets’ entire season exemplified in one six-second video clip. During a 2-1 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday, television cameras were perfectly positioned to capture one (possibly “over-hydrated”) Mets fan lose his balance and plummet down a few rows of Citi Field seats. The team that poor guy supports has been tripping over itself all year, too, entering...
