Kevin Slowly faces the Red Sox tonight in hopes of raising his W/L record to 7-1 while the Sox loosen the reigns on Daisuke Matsuzaka as he pursues his first win on the year against 2 loses thus far in an injury abbreviated season. Dice-K as you recall led the Japanese National team to the World Title in impressive fashion but had to be shelved soon after with severe fatigue of his pitching arm/shoulder. Matsuzaka has a ballooning ERA of 9.24 and I must say I would be very surprised to see him so quick to take the mound representing Japan next world tourney.
Jacoby Ellsbury has a couple hits tonight as well as a stolen base for his 21 st of the year; Pedi has also swiped his 7th. Kevin Youkilis is responsible for the lone run in a 3-1 Twins lead thru 5. As predicted the Red Sox are up against a tough right-hand-er tonight in Slowly he has silenced their bats before and is on course to repeat that performance. Jason Bay has connected on a base empty home-run to bring the Sox within a run. however the Twins figured it a bit too close and reacquired a two run lead going into the 7th. Closing out the series tomorrow the Twins and Red Sox meet at 1:10pm for an afternoon affair before taking off for Toronto. Josh Beckett tries to salvage a win for Boston after losing 2 of three. His counter-part for the Twins will be Anthony Swarzak a righty with a record of 1-0 and a ERA of ZERO! We'll soon see just what ole Swarzie is made of once the Boston bats have at em eh?
