Hank Steinbrenner caused a bit of a firestorm with his comments about the DH. I am going to go out on a limb and say that in my opinion he is 100% right.
There is a "marketplace of ideas." Every proposition of this sort is akin to a trial balloon. Once a quasi-philosophical idea such as "should we have the DH" is out in the marketplace for consideration, a natural selection-type process occurs. Either the idea proliferates if it is an improvement, or withers on the vine if it is not.

You make many, many good points. It is a joke when pitchers bat, notice I wrote "bat" and not "hit" because they rarely do. I don't find a rally killing one out sacrifice bunt very strategic.
