The Washington Nationals told pitching ace Stephen Strasburg that his last start of the season would be Sept. 12, in order to keep his elbow healthy following his 2010 Tommy John surgery. That means Strasburg won’t compete in a likely pennant race, even though his team has the best record in Major League Baseball.
