Here's video of Bryce Harper doing an interview at his cover shoot for an upcoming cover of Eastbay. Meanwhile, the Washington Post's Jason Reid registered a "Bryce Harper needs to grow up" column today, which featured some classic quotes from Mike Rizzo on Harper's "cocky bone and ego bone": "...there’s not a malicious bone in his body. Now, there’s a cocky bone in there. And there’s an ego bone. And there are other bones … but there’s not a malicious bone in his body. He loves being a Washington National. He wants to be a Washington National for the length of his contract. This is the way he sees himself. He wants to go into the hall of fame with a Washington Nationals hat on. He wants to win championships and that sort of thing. That’s who he is." (Mike Rizzo, via Washington Post, 2/14/2012) Befriend the Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Follow us on Twitter.

Over the past few days, multiple media organizations have written posts questioning the maturity and the makeup of baseball's top prospect, Bryce Harper. Nats GM: Bryce Harper is cocky and egotistical, but not malicious

He compares himself to Joe Namath and blows kisses to opposing pitchers after home runs, all before he’s seen a single pitch in the Majors. Bryce Harper‘s arrogance is tremendous and undeniable. Much so, in fact, that even his own GM won’t deny it. But Mike Rizzo wants you to know that Harper means well even though the Nationals’ budding phenom has episodes...

The Tools of Magnificence

For a catcher, the “tools of ignorance” is an endearing term used to sum up the challenges of the position in a neat and tidy phrase. Over the past three seasons, scouting well over 100 games and a few hundred prospects has led me to develop my own “tools of magnificence” as a handful of players have displayed 80-grade tools which are now seared into my scouting...

Turning point isn't a talking point in Washington

The last time Washington won a pennant was in 1933. Baseball would love nothing more than for Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper and the Nationals to give the sport and the town something to shout about.
