TEAMS: New York Mets
The Mets have had issues scoring runs this season, and it’s starting to have an effect on their fans. That was the case in tonight’s Nationals-Mets game, in which Washington won, 5-2. The Mets scored two runs in the fifth inning and were done after that. One Mets fan was particularly upset. So he decided to hop over the wall and run the bases—which he did, successfully. But when he got to home plate, he was greeted by Nationals’ security—who were none too kind to the raucous fan. He was body-slammed and quickly taken to the ground. One fan’s account of the incident claims that he was punched, which the MLB may, very well, look into. Mets fan jumped the wall and ran the bases, then calmly gave himself to security. A security guy punched him in the face anyway. — Quarleigh (@KarMaGoBlue) May 17, 2014 (H/T: Deadspin , @MJFlamini [photo])

Eric Campbell Rates A Closer Look

OK, call me a front-runner if you must, but based on what I’ve seen of Eric Campbell so far (and with a mere handful of at-bats it ain’t much), he looks to have qualities that would do much to inject some sorely needed jolt into the Mets’ lineup. I speak not so much of numbers, as the vast majority of his stats are those of the minor league variety, but rather the look he...

WATCH: Lagares robs Jayson Werth of a home run

New York Mets centerfielder Juan Lagares took the meaning of highway robbery seriously in the Mets matchup against the Washington Nationals on Saturday. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Nats hitter Jayson Werth was at the plate. Werth smoked a deep drive to center but Lagares leaped up and made the catch to rob him of a home run. It was a sensational catch for the young center...

The interesting case of Bartolo Colon

For many, the big story from Saturday was the return of Juan Lagares to the starting lineup and his key role in delivering the Mets’ first win over the Nationals this season. Good for Lagares, especially with his homer. If he could add power to his game, that would be a wonderful thing. But for me, the best, or perhaps more accurately the most interesting, thing was the performance...
