It’s Angels home opener day! But it’s off to a bad start already this morning as multiple reports have confirmed that Jered Weaver has been placed on the disabled list with a non-displaced radial head fracture on his left elbow and Angel fans woe. What does this mean for the Halos? Yes, they lose their ace and leader in a crucial start of the season. The Dream Weaver (whose x-rays were negative at first) will miss multiple starts even if all rehab goes perfectly well and the Angels have called up righty Dane De La Rosa to replace his roster spot. De La Rosa has only thrown two innings for the AAA Salt Lake Bees but hasn’t allowed a run. Though De La Rosa has been called up, in all likelihood, Garret Richards will take Weaver’s spot in the rotation. Richards (who I spoke of in last night’s podcast) has a 2.08 ERA this season in 4 games (1 ER in 4.1 IP). The Angels need Garret Richards to really step up this time. He has been great so far this season and it really is his time to shine. Whether it works out like we hope it will or not, this is all also be a blow to bullpen since Richards won’t be able to be called upon in the later innings. We’ll see how it all plays out and if Richards will get the call to be the next starter, but in the mean time, CJ Wilson is the guy that the rotation will now consider the ace as he faces the Oakland Athletics at 7:005 PM at the Big A in the Angels home opener. How the Angels can survive without Jered Weaver

When does four weeks feel like four years? When Jered Weaver is missing four weeks, at least, of action for the Angels. Sure, the Halo ace may not have been on top of his game in his first two starts of the 2013 season, but losing him to a broken left elbow for over a month is a big blow to the Angels' chances of getting out of the gates quickly for the first time in a long time...

So, I owe Jeff Weaver an apology…

Jeff Weaver is not pleased with my cheap shot, and appears to be plotting my demise. Sorry Jeff. Let me try to redeem myself a little here. (Image source: http://thesuicidesqueeze.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/gcgY9n9Y.jpg) All right, I admit it.  The other day I took a cheap shot at former Dodger pitcher Jeff Weaver on my blog about the Aaron Harang trade.  I talked about how...
