By Geoff Stoddart, AngelsWin.com Director of Social Media “In the beginning Chuck created AngelsWin.com. And the site was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the message board.” We’ve come a long way since the humble genesis of AngelsWin.com. (See what I did there?) What started out as just an inkling has turned into the “Internet Home of Angel Fans!” Technology has also come a long way since the initial launch of our website. Once accessed primarily via large desktop computers, members now want to engage with us via laptops, smartphones and tablets. Technology has changed the way people communicate and engage over the internet, and it’s clear we need to change too. But our old website’s architecture was not up to the challenge, even though we were. So the message was clear … “We’re gonna need a bigger boat!” With all of this as a backdrop, we’re very excited to announce the launch of the NEW AngelsWin.com! Completely redesigned and rebuilt, the new AngelsWi

Los Angeles Angels: 3 Up and 3 Down

Money changes everything.  Just don’t tell the Los Angeles Angels that. Josh Hamilton (left), Mike Trout (center) and Albert Pujols are the focal point of the Angels offense. The Angels entered 2012 as the hands down favorite to represent the American League in the World Series.  After all, during the off season, Angels owner Arte Moreno became the Western version of Yankees...

Fat Mike Trout, A Calzone, Red Cups & A Rumple Minze Bottle

First of all, Mike Trout is 21. He can booze as much as he wants. You won’t find us beefing with Trout over booze. In fact, we encourage all athletes to booze and upload those photos to Twitter or Instagram. It’s good for the BC brand. But don’t be shocked when fans are furious over Mr. Baseball coming to training camp at 241 pounds. According to the Los Angeles Times, Trout...

Report: Angels won't ban beer for Hamilton

Josh Hamilton's new team says it won't ban beer from the clubhouse to accommodate him, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. The Angels did not institute a beer ban in 2009 after 22-year-old pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver. Hard liquor is not allowed in the clubhouse, but the Angels have not made special arrangements with Hamilton, who signed...

Mike Trout reports to spring training 30 lbs heavier than last year

Tweet   Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout took the Majors by storm last season. The Angels 21-year old phenom won the AL Rookie of the Year award and was second in MVP voting after putting together one of the best rookie seasons in history by batting .326 with 30 home runs, 83 RBIs, [...]

The February 21st, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Pujols won't play in games until mid-March, Rangers fans to give Hamilton the silent treatment and much more... The Story: Albert Pujols will not appear in Cactus League games until mid-March at the earliest. The Monkey Says: Most guys like Pujols don't play in games the first week...

Could Josh Hamilton be playing all of us?

As far as insults go, ex-Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton wasn't exactly Don Rickles when he sat down for a one-on-one with CBS11's Gina Miller over the weekend. Asked about the boos he received at the Ballpark in his final days with the club, he basically attributed it to folks who only understood football. He actually said that Dallas-Fort Worth wasn't "a true baseball...

Could Ernesto Frieri steal the closer job this season?

I don't want to sound toooo misleading off of that title there, there won't be any "stealing" of jobs by Ernesto Frieri. Although the fact is that Mike Scioscia does happen to prefer Ryan Madson as the Angels full-time closer this season he has not been officially given the job yet. While it's been made clear the Angels want Madson to close for them they do...

2013 Player Projection: Albert Pujols

The biggest signing in the history of the Angels, Albert Pujols career as a Halo got off to one of the rockiest starts in the history of rocky starts. While he repaired much of the damage by season's end, questions remain as to whether or not Albert's best days are already well behind him. 2012 Stats: 670 PA, .285 AVG, .343 OBP, .516 SLG, 85 R, 30 HR, 105 RBI, 8 SB, 1...

The Story: Sean Burnett apparently suffered his back injury while lifting his child into a shopping cart. The Monkey Says: This is something of an annual tradition for him it seems. If I recall, he hurt his back last spring...

Josh Hamilton May Be Wrong About Dallas Fans, But Questioning His Effort Is Nothing Short of Hack Job

By all rights, Garret Anderson was a greater baseball player than Tim Salmon. Salmon beats Anderson by .099 points in OPS, so he was probably the better overall player. But, in the context of Angels history, Anderson played two more seasons in a California/Anaheim/Los Angeles uniform, had 2,529 hits to Salmon’s 1674, had 1,365 RBIs to Salmon’s 1,016 and hit a bases-clearing double...

Rangers Fans Plan Surprise for Josh Hamilton in their Home Opener

Even though the man produced mammoth blasts (upwards of four in one game), drove in runs, and inspired many, fans of the Texas Rangers were slowly getting tired of Josh Hamilton towards the end of the 2012 season as he appeared to mail-in performances both at the plate and in the outfield. And still, Hamilton was the biggest free agent this offseason. And, of course, he jetted-away...

Hamilton comments show how much fans care

SURPRISE, Ariz. Who cares? That's what someone tweeted to me in the afternoon Monday in response to Josh Hamilton's comments about baseball atmosphere and fanbase in the Metroplex. Unfortunately for that person, plenty of people care. And maybe the reason they care is proof of how much the area has become a baseball hotbed. We won't use the phrase baseball town here...
