Since Werth's return on August 1st, he's been one of the hottest players in the league, hitting .361, with 4 home runs and 37 RBI's. He's also been one of the more clutch players in the Phillies lineup. Whether it's stealing a base late in the game that allowed him to score, a great defensive catch, or a key hit, Werth does whatever it takes to help the team. His bat and strong defense have been a reason the fans have forgot about Victorino. Although Victorino still has some calf tenderness, he's been relegated to a fourth outfielder role.
Werth has become one of the mounting reasons the fans of Philadelphia aren't paying that close attention to the Eagles yet. The Phillies are still very much in the playoff hunt, and continue to find ways to win. On a larger scale, don't think his second half play will be overlooked this off season when the Phillies front office decide if they want to re-sign center fielder Aaron Rowand, or look to spend free agent money to fill other needs.
