This is wonderful, and Larry Bowa thinks he should be in the Cy Young conversation. What an interesting idea; he's certainly impacting more games than any of our starters. On a personal note, one of my pictures is in this video (the one with Wags with his hand on Kimbrel's shoulder at 2:50). You can see the original in this post as well as in one of my rotating headers. That's very cool. If they'd just asked for the picture I could have given them a higher quality version. ;)

Medlen earning his stripes in Braves rotation

ATLANTA Kris Medlen isnt sure what hes going to do with the Braves lineup cards that are beginning to accumulate in his office. He was given the official one from his first big-league victory in 2009 and another from his first career save, which was earlier this season. Manager Fredi Gonzalez handed Medlen another lineup card, which is posted in the dugout during games and awarded...

Bryce Harper slams bat on ground, breaking it

Your browser does not support iframes. During Monday's Braves-Nationals extra inning marathon, Braves reliever Luis Avilan struck out Nationals phenom Bryce Harper swinging to end the 11th inning on an absolutely filthy curveball. After the inning-ending strikeout, the 19-year old Harper slammed his bat into the dirt around home plate and split the bat in half. First off Bryce...

Braves drop series to Dodgers, look to gain ground vs Nats

Going into the series with the Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves were 4 games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals. Going into the 3-game set with Washington, the Braves are now 5 games behind the Nats. For whatever reason, the Atlanta bats just didn’t come through against the Dodgers. On Saturday night, the Braves went a ridiculous 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position...

Braves' relievers pitching less

As the Atlanta Braves prepare for an important three-game series in Washington, one difference in their team is quite apparent. The primary Atlanta relievers are pitching significantly less than they did last season, when closer Craig Kimbrel and left-hander Jonny Venters wore down during the team’s September collapse. While the Braves’ rotation ranks only 12th in the National...

Medlen pitches Braves to win over Nationals

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Kris Medlen understood the enormity of his latest start and he delivered. The Braves starter pitched seven shutout innings in his latest winning performance and Martin Prado's two-run double proved decisive to help Atlanta end a four-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. Medlen (5-1) allowed seven hits while...

Braves 5, Nationals 1

Kris Medlen pitched seven shutout innings in his latest winning performance and Martin Prado's two-run double proved decisive to help the Braves end a four-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. Medlen (5-1) allowed seven hits while striking out seven and walking one in his fifth start of the season. The Braves have won 16 consecutive...

Strasburg dominates Braves in 4-1 win

The Atlanta Braves came into Washington hopeful that they would be able to put a dent in the first-place Nationals' lead in the NL East. They will leave town after Wednesday night's game hoping the deficit isn't unmanageable. Stephen Strasburg struck out 10 and allowed one run in six innings for his 15th win in one of his final starts of the season as Washington beat...

Must See TV For Nationals Fans

As most of you know the Atlanta Braves are in town for the next three days in what may be the most important series for both teams up to this point of the season. Atlanta is currently facing a five-game deficit and is hopeful that they can gain some ground in DC. Since July 3rd, these two teams have been the best in all of baseball. Washington is 30-14 over that time frame, tied...

Tides vs. Braves: 8/21/12

L.J. HoesThe Norfolk Tides completely handled the Gwinnett Braves today in Lawrenceville, GA 8-0. Since I felt an acute case of baseball fever coming on this morning, I called out sick and went to the 10:35 AM start. The Oriole highlights came early as former Dodger farmhand RF Jamie Hoffman launched a 3-run homer that just barely cleared the left field wall and Braves LF Jose Constanza...

Atlanta Braves Waste Opportunities in 13-Inning Loss to Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals can’t lose, and the Atlanta Braves can’t beat them. Though the Braves held the Nationals scoreless for 11 straight innings they still dropped the series opener in 13 innings by a 5-4 score at Nationals Park. The game ended with runners on the corners and one out, but Dan Uggla couldn’t get the ball out of his glove on an infield single to drop the Braves...

Braves-Giants Preview

Though the Atlanta Braves have enjoyed some recent success in San Francisco, they understand their key four-game series against the surging Giants won't be an easy one. While the Braves try for a fifth consecutive win at AT&T Park, Barry Zito looks to continue his career success against them and help the NL West-leading Giants to a fourth straight victory overall Thursday...
