If recent reports are to be believed, it is only a matter of time before the Angels lock up Erick Aybar to a lucrative contract extension. Nothing is official yet, but reports are circling around a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of five years and $50 million for Aybar. That seems to be what Aybar is asking for, anyway. But is that what he should get?
We could debate for hours whether or not the Angels are making a smart decision to sign Aybar long-term, but that is a different topic for another time. Let's just assume that this is going to happen. What we need to figure out is what the Halos should pay him since they are going to pay him. Let's start with that five years, $50 million figure. Compared to recent extension recipient Howie Kendrick, that seems a bit steep. Howie got $33.5 million over four years, but that is somewhat misleading since the first year of the contract covers his last arbitration year. Really, he got a three-year, $27.6 million deal...

Trumbo not angered by lack of playing time
It has become one of the questions surrounding the Angels as they've stumbled to a 4-7 start: Why isn't Mark Trumbo playing more?
The young slugger led the team with 29 home runs and 87 RBI last season and finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. However, he was displaced from first base by the signing of Albert Pujols. The plan was to get Trumbo...
Los Angeles Angels Prospect Report (4/17 Games)
By Brian Waller, AngelsWin.com Columnist
Salt Lake Bees (8-4) The Bees continued their winning ways Tuesday night as they beat the 51’s 3-2 in front of 3,091 at Cashman Field. Brad Mills pitched 7.0 strong innings allowing only one earned run off four hits while walking three and striking out three. His 2012 ERA is a sparkling 1.38. I personally wouldn’t mind seeing...

Game Recap 4/16/12 -- Happy Happy Joy Joy - Angels 6 Athletics 0
Well who would have guessed it, the Angels actually have a middle of the order, what a surprise. The day off did Kendrys wonders apparently, 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI's makes you wonder if he's finally coming back around. I know one game is too soon to throw around claims that Kendrys is finally back to true Kendrys form again, but if he can keep raking throughout this home...
Game Recap 4/17/12 -- Wow.....just...wow - Athletics 5 Angels 3
You know... I'm glad the game went the way it did in the 8th because maybe now Scioscia will stop putting so much undeserved trust into Kevin Jepsen. Jesus Christ the guy is garbage, he's always been bad and people think just because he put up a tolerable year in '10 that he's going to somehow find the potential that he doesn't have. Maybe Dipoto will be able...
