Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking. Kyle Lohse went 7 innings, striking out 6 while giving up 1 run, as the Padres fell to the Brewers 3-1. The Padres lone bright spot was a Nick Hundley solo shot in the 3rd inning to give them the lead. It was short lived though, as Carlos Gomez roped a 2 run double in the bottom half of the 3rd and that was all Lohse and the Milwaukee bullpen needed. The Padres are 45-57, 9.0 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. Brewers try to warm up chilly offense against Padres

Will Venable and Nick Hundley are two of the big reasons behind the San Diego Padres' recent surge at the plate. Facing the Milwaukee Brewers has been another. Venable and Hundley try to help the Padres match their longest road winning streak of the season Wednesday night against the Brewers. San Diego (45-56) has broken out at the plate while winning four of six, batting .308...

Luke Gregerson garnering a lot of interest

It doesn't look like Luke Gregerson will be a member of the San Diego Padres after the deadline. As the trade deadline approaches, teams are becoming more and more interested in the 29-year old right-hander. According to Jayson Stark of ESPN, the Phillies and Padres have "talked a lot" about a deal that would send Gregerson and an outfielder to the Phillies for...

San Diego, Our Polis

One of the topics I remember former Padres CEO Tom Garfinkel talk about most was the importance of fans having a good ballpark experience on days our Padres don’t win. This goal became evident in, among other improvements, the restaurants and events he and his team brought to the ballpark. But there’s another less discussed, at least less discussed by team by team executives...

Padres and Pints: Episode 16 with the San Diego Chicken

When creating a Mount Rushmore for the Padres, coming up with a list of names is an easy task for me: Tony Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman, Randy Jones and the one and only San Diego Chicken. Based on their body of work and what they have done for the city of San Diego, it’s a no-brainer for me every time. Ted Giannoulas, aka The San Diego Chicken,  has been making fans laugh for 39 years...

Slump Busted?

It wasn’t that long ago that Padres fans were staring at their televisions and wondering “what on Earth has happened to Chase Headley?” Because, as you’ll recall, the 2nd half of 2012 Chase Headley was a man on fire. He stormed to win the the RBI title. He increased his power numbers by a factor of 3 (8 HRs in the first half of 2012; 23 in the 2nd half). Fans were ready to...

Tigers Rumors: Detroit interested in Padres Luke Gregerson

The Tigers, having missed out on Francisco Rodriguez, have set there sights on a different reliever. They sent two scouts to the Brewers-Padres game and have their eyes on one particular reliever. The Tigers, according to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, have "continued" interest in Padres relief pitcher Luke Gregerson. Morosi also mentioned Huston Street, Dale Thayer and Joe...

Hanging-tight D-backs host fading Padres

Some have suggested over the past few days that the Diamondbacks are slipping. But though they lost their hold on first place to the Dodgers -- at the hands of the Cubs, no less -- the D-backs enter the weekend just a half-game back in the NL West. The visiting Padres have slipped even more. At the start of the month, they were in fourth place, just 5 12 games back of the D-backs...

While You Were Drinking: Game 101 (SD vs. MIL)

Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a night in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking. The Padres banged out 15 hits in a 6-2 win against the Brewers last night. It was a hit parade! Headley and Alonso collected 2 hits apiece while Venable, Hundley, and Mark Kotsay went crazy with three hits each. Kotsay! I know, that’s...

Atlanta Braves Interested in Padres Reliever

Ever since lefty reliever Eric O'Flaherty went on the disabled list May 18, the Atlanta Braves have been looking for a veteran replacement.  The Braves are interested in San Diego Padres’ lefty reliever, Joe Thatcher, FoxSports’ Jon Morosi is reporting.  The 31-year old Thatcher has pitched 28 innings this season, compiling a 2.25 ERA.  He has struck out 28, while walking...

Too Much Time On My Hands: Scavenger Hunt Results

The inaugural Padres Public Online Scavenger Hunt is now over and done with and a winner has been named. For those of you who weren’t paying attention — which based on the number of entries I received wasn’t as much as I expected — Padres Public managed to get a few copies of MLB Bloopers Deluxe Doubleheader and Prime 9: MLB Heroics DVDs from MLB Productions. So, I decided...

Could Braves Acquire Padres Reliever?

Joe Thatcher would be a solid addition to the Braves bullpen The Atlanta Braves are interested in San Diego Padres’ lefty reliever, Joe Thatcher, FoxSports’ Jon Morosi is reporting.  The Braves have been looking to acquire a left-handed reliever since Eric O’Flaherty went on the disabled list, May 18. The 31-year old Thatcher has pitched 28 innings this season, compiling a...

Interest growing in Kyle Lohse

People have though that Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo would be one of biggest names available at the trade deadline. A guy that every contender came calling about but thanks to salary and struggles that interest is dwindling. Teams are now asking about Kyle Lohse who has easily been performing at a level well above his three year, $33 million contract. One rival general...

Shock The World Chronicles: The Rev Hits Up The Bay Area

Way back in April, I made my very first trip to California and took in the San Diego Padres’ home opener at PETCO Park against the Los Angeles Dodgers. I never got around to writing a Shock the World post because right from beautiful San Diego, I had to fly to Minneapolis for work, where [...]The post Shock The World Chronicles: The Rev Hits Up The Bay Area appeared first on The...

Brewers 3, Padres 1

Kyle Lohse pitched seven strong innings and Carlos Gomez had four hits and drove in two runs to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night. It was the Brewers' first win since left fielder Ryan Braun was suspended Monday for the remainder of the 2013 season for violations of Major League Baseball's drug policy. Lohse (7-7) gave...

Brewers Rumors: Gallardo, Lohse unlikely to be dealt

Teams have been calling the Brewers about their pitchers. The pitchers that have been garnering most of the medias attention are John Axford and Mike Gonzalez, but teams have shown interest in starters Yovani Gallardo and Kyle Lohse, according to reports. While teams are interested, are the Brewers willing to deal them? According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Milwaukee...
