No, not the Arena Football League, but rather the Arizona Fall League. That's where the White Sox are sending six of their up-and-coming prospects. In the "guys we've discussed" category, it'll be IF's Micah Johnson & Marcus Semien and pitchers Charlie Leesman & Stephen McCray, and in the "soon to be discussed" category, it's pitchers Chris Bassit & Kevin Vance. Those six guys will be a part of the Glendale Desert Dogs, a squad also made up of Dodgers, Twins, Marlins, and Reds prospects. Just click on those guys' names above to read more about them or to check out the numbers they've put up. The Arizona Fall League is something that's often looked forward to and commonly serves as one of the final steps before a team decides whether or not to call a prospect up to the big leagues. The AFL season runs from October 8th through November 14th of this year. I feel at least somewhat confident in saying that it'll mean someone like Marcus Semien, which the team would like to see play every day, will not be a part of the south side September call-ups. Still, the rosters of the AFL teams can change before and during the season, so we'll likely have at least a little more news on its front before it actually starts up.

Acquisition breakdown: Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox were busy on the trade front this season, as usual. Kenny Williams is notorious for his wheeling and dealing in late July, but it was different this time. The White Sox are almost always in the hunt for a playoff spot. Rebuilding mode is not something that Sox fans are used to. For those of you who stopped watching long ago because things got ugly, I’ll recap...

Chicago White Sox: A Decade Of Hits And Misses In The 1st Round

The MLB draft is by far the toughest.  SO MANY MISSES!!!  This was a painful article to write because except for Chris Sale, all are busts or too young to tell.  I’m hoping some of these recent picks can show something really soon. Let’s take a look at the #1 picks for the White Sox the last ten years.  Some hits some misses some still up in the air.  The Sox are in a rebuild...

Ex-White Sox scout sentenced in kickback scheme

A federal judge has sentenced a former Chicago White Sox scouting executive to two years in prison for accepting about $440,000 in kickbacks from Latin American players the team had signed. Federal prosecutors say 52-year-old David Wilder of San Francisco pleaded guilty to mail fraud in February 2011. They say Wilder got the money from signing bonuses and contract buyouts that two...

Sale strikes out 12 as White Sox beat Astros 6-1

Chris Sale struck out 12 over eight-plus dominant innings and Avisail Garcia hit a three-run homer to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night. Garcia finished with three hits for the White Sox, who have won 10 of their last 12 games. Sale (10-12) bounced back from an embarrassing start Friday night against Texas in which he allowed a career...

Danks leads White Sox to 4-3 win over Astros

Jordan Danks hit a clutch two-run single in Chicago's three-run eighth inning, leading the White Sox to a 4-3 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday night. Danks finished with a career-high three hits as the White Sox won for the ninth time in 11 games, bouncing back from a difficult loss in the series opener. Paul Konerko, Alexei Ramirez and Avisail Garcia had two hits apiece...

White Sox rally to beat Astros 4-3 behind Danks' late hit

John Danks was Jordan Danks’ brother on Tuesday night. For much of their careers it has been the other way around as the pitcher has had far more notoriety than his younger brother. But Jordan Danks continued the hottest streak of his career Tuesday with three hits including a two-run single in the eighth inning to lift the White Sox to a 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros at...

Sale strikes out 12 as Sox stay hot, beat Astros

Chris Sale established a franchise record on Wednesday night and his teammates rewarded him accordingly. Sale struck out 12 batters the fourth time he has reached at least that total this season and the White Sox rallied for five late runs to beat the Houston Astros 6-1 at U.S. Cellular Field. Leury Garcia showed off his speed and Avisail Garcia displayed his brawn with his first...

What's Left in the Bullpen?

We’ve made it a point to discuss different players and aspects of this ball club’s future. Mostly, we’ve analyzed certain prospects, but we’ve also honed in on positional outlooks. But where we’ve stayed constant is with our focus on that which is often overlooked; and it’s where we’re picking up again there today. You can assure in today’s day and age every...

Series Preview 43: Astros at White Sox

The White Sox continue their homestand with a three game series against the Houston Astros.  The Sox are coming off their fourth straight series win after taking the last two games against the Rangers.  The Sox are 14-6 in their last 20 games and probably playing their best baseball of the season. The Astros are coming off a series win over the Blue Jays but are 4-6 in their last...
