Found September 06, 2012 on Mets Merized Online:
With the season entering its last few weeks, there are few things left for Mets fans to be excited about. Of course there are exceptions such as Dickey’s run at the Cy Young award and getting to see some of the younger players, such as Jeurys Familia and Matt Harvey. The focus, for the most part, has now turned to the offseason and what Sandy Alderson plans on doing to improve a ball club that needs help in more than a few areas. Signing a big time free agent seems to be out of the question so, as Sandy stated a few weeks back, trades may be the most logical way to improve this ball club until it is ready (or able) to spend money. That being said, the question now turns to what players would the Mets be interested in trading for and what would they be willing to give up. Here a few names that I think could be moved this winter and should draw the attention of Sandy and his brain trust. Elvis Andrus: Andrus could be an interesting name this winter. For one, he is one of the better y...

Mets Minors: Reviewing MLB.com’s Mets top prospects: Part I

I do a lot of searching through minor-league lists of top prospects and I often find it interesting where “experts” decide to rank Met prospects.  Using the basic rankings of MLB.com’s pre-season picks for the Met’s top 20 prospects, Here’s a little review in preview of my full system review that I’m starting to work on as we speak. #1 Zack Wheeler: What They Said –...

The Mets (64-72) lost to the Cardinals (74-62) by the score of 5-1 on Tuesday evening at Busch Stadium. 0-14 with RISP so far this series will win you no games. PreGame: New York Mets (64-71) at St. Louis Cardinals (73-62)

The Less Said ...

Sometimes, you just have to tip your cap to the other guys. (The role of cap tipper will be played by Jorge Sosa ... for no good reason.) The Cardinals had a great approach against Matt Harvey on Tuesday, going the other way whenever possible, laying wood on hide, taking it the other way, and just plain having the kind of approach the Mets used to have this season before losing Vinny...

Dixon’s Picks: Waiver Wire Additions for the Week of September 3

Welcome back to Dixon’s picks. I’d like to thank Clave for covering for me last week. He did a good job, almost too good of a job. Matt Harvey, Brett Anderson, Hisashi Iwakuma, and Adam Ottavino combined for five wins, 31 strikeouts, a 1.41 ERA, 0.95 WHIP in 38.1 innings. That’s some clean production. As a matter of fact, neither Anderson or Harvey meet...
