Can someone please tell me why Rodrigo Lopez is still getting starts with the Chicago Cubs? Let’s throw out all his numbers and concentrate on one thing. Opponents are hitting over .350 against Lopez. If that doesn’t say “hey! I can’t get anyone out anymore!” I don’t know what does. Lopez has been a journey man and there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s gotten by- and gotten further than most but at the same time…really? There isn’t anyone in the minors that the Cubs can take a look at? Not one pitcher worthy of a start?
I’d say that’s a problem. When Rodrigo at 38 has to make 20 plus starts- you’re team is bad. When you can’t find a youngster in the system not worthy of making starts down 20 plus games in September- that means a lot of different things and none of them are good.
