That's what I'm trying to figure out. The A's basically dumped whoever they could last year and now they're trading away three guys for Matt Holliday, who only has one year remaining on his contract.
Sometimes baseball is hard to figure out.
It is rumored that Huston Street could be headed to Colorado in this deal, which would help the Rockies cope with the potential loss of reliever Brian Fuentes in free agency. Holliday will bring some offensive power to the Oakland lineup but will they have the pitching to be successful, having traded Harden and Blanton last year?
Or, perhaps likely, Billy Beane only acquired Holliday to use him as a trading chip.Check out more from Tony Arnoldine at http://tonyblogs.net
